So I've been wanting to get my belly button pierced for so long and I finally convince my mom to take me to get it done. I tried to get her to take me in the winter so that it would be healed for the summer, but for some reason, we waited. So I searched around some to make sure that I found a place that was clean. It also took a while to find a place that took people under 18. So we finally found one that required your parent to come with you and sign.

We are on the way there and I'm pretty nervous, but doing okay. I wasn't that scared because everyone I've talked to has told me that it didn't hurt much. We get there and I get a little more nervous. We go inside and a very nice young girl asks us if she can help. I tell her I had called earlier and wanted to get my bellybutton pierced. She asked if I was under 18 and then got out the parental consent forms, and the forms for me. She took both of our licenses and photocopied them. She went in the back and got the room ready while we waited out front. After about 5 minutes, she came back out and told us that it was ready and I could head on back and she would meet us there.

We get in the room and she asks me about what kind of ring I wanted. She told me that she suggested the curved barbell because the rings often got stuck on things and were harder to keep clean. So I trusted her and went with the barbell. She had me stand on a stool and she marked my navel where the needle would go through. By this time my heart was beating at about 300 bpm. She then asked me to look in the mirror and see if I thought it was centered. I agreed that it was and she asked me to lay down on the doctor-type bed. She then washed her hands and put on gloves and washed my bellybutton area with alcohol and something else that was brown. She then took those gloves off and washed her hands again and put new gloves on and asked me to lay back on the table. I watched her take the steralized clamp out of the package and she clamped it down. Honestly, I think that the clamp was the most uncomforatable. It didn't exactly hurt, it was just a lot of pressure. She then told me to take a couple deep breaths and it was over in about 2 seconds. She then put in my barbell and screwed on the ball. She told me to get up very slowly in case I was faint, and look in the mirror to make sure that I was pleased. I was. We then went back out to the front and she spent about 15 minutes explaining the after care and what to expect and what is normal and what isnt. She was very helpful. We also bought a bottle of H2Ocean. She said that it takes the place of washing it twice daily because it has sea salt and Bactine in it. Overall my experience was a good one. It pays to do a lot of research about the place youre going to because you don't want to go somewhere that isnt clean and isnt experienced.

So far, I've just had a little soreness and redness around the area. Which is expected. I also accidentally hit it on my purse and that didn't feel too good but other than that there isnt much pain. I would suggest taking some Ibuprofen or Tylenol to help with the pain and swelling. And also, try to get it pierced in the winter so that it will be healed for the summer, because now i have to wait for at least a month till i can get in the water.

I am just excited to change the barbell because i just got the plain silver barbell. I want to get a cute one but i have to wait for at least 4-6 months she said. I know that my friend took hers out after it had been in for about 2 weeks and changed it, and it was fine. But i would rather be safe than sorry so i think that i will just wait it out. Now that I've gotten it done, all my friends want to go get theirs done too, and they want me to go with them so I guess I will be witnessing many more piercings! I hope that this helped! Just go ahead and do it if you want it done. You will be happy that you did.
