At A Glance Author Dimenshia Contact greek_beauty1389@hotmail.com When Six months ago Studio Laval Tattoo Location Laval, Quebec, Canada I've always been fascinated with piercings, whether it be standard navel of which you see almost anywhere these days, or a full blown Prince Albert which you don't see that often, or at least don't hear people talking about as much.
About half of my piercings have been done using a needle, and the other half with a gun (Used when I got my ears pierced at 6 months old, and again for a second pair when I was about 13) In all, I've got 9 piercings.
Enough of that, on with my double bottom navels. I decided I wanted to get something out of the norm from what you see around my area, and I already had my standard navel done, so I went with something my parents wouldn't freak out with. They're very old fashioned, and don't see a reason for me having all these piercings in the first place.
I decided to go to the same place which I got my first navel done at, because I really loved the feel of it, it was very clean and it always had a pleasant smell because they always burnt incense. What I like most about this place is that they have separate floors for piercings and tattoos which to me, is great for first timers, since they don't get intimidated.
I promptly told the lady who had done my first navel about what I wanted, and surprisingly, she still remembered me after almost 4 years. I followed her into the piercing room and sat on that all too familiar chair and waited for her to get everything set up. Then she wiped the area around my navel with a rubbing alcohol pad, and asked me to stand so she could mark me. She made a line in the middle, and proceeded to make the tiny little hole marks where eventually, the needle would pass through.
I stood as still as possible, and when she was done with the marking, I made my way to the mirror where I had myself a look at her work. Looked good to me. I then sat in the chair, where she took me through the process, but I told her to just go ahead with it. She did the right side first, then the left. She had a bit more trouble with the left one, because it was kind of cluttered now, from two already there. I have to admit though, they did sting a bit when she did them. A slight pain, but tolerable.
When it was done, I thanked her, paid her the money and went on my merry way. For about a month, it was alright, rarely any signs of puss, blood, or other weird liquids. I cleaned it about twice to three times a day, depending on whether I had time for three times. Then, just as I thought I was in the clear, the right one got infected, and as much as I took care of it, the infection persisted. I really didn't want to take it out, so I kind of waited it out.
Eventually, it cleared up. All the while, the left one was fine. And then, that one got infected. For the same amount of time as well. It was like my body was taking turns at healing them, because it didn't want to heal them both at once. But the problem with this is that the left one gave me a hell of a lot of problems. It really didn't want to clear up. It just kept pussing and occasionally, a tiny amount of blood would seep up and crust around the barbel. As I cleaned it, I found that there was a small abscess right under the jewelry. It felt like a hard ball.
What I did to clear this up, and I don't recommend anyone do this unless you want your hole to close up, because it will and you might end up making it worse. If you're not sure what to do, go to a local piercing parlor and ask.
What I did was put pressure on the jewelry so that whatever remaining puss was collected under it came out, then I took out the barbel and quickly attempted to "pop" the abscess, which I did successfully. A mixture of puss, blood and the skin that was actually healing inside the hole all came out. I wiped it all up with a tissue, quickly put my jewelry back in, which was giving me problems because the hole was already closing and proceeded to wash the piercing with some antibacterial soap. I took care of it vigorously for the next couple of days, and about 2 weeks later, the problem had completely gone.
I got these done in December. It is now June. Id say, give or take a couple of days, it's been 6 months on the nose.
What I would advise for anyone getting multiple piercings, make sure to really clean them and not wear clothing that is going to irritate them as a precaution. I say just get one at a time. That way, you won't stress when they all get to that stage where they are very prone to infections.
I look back on these now, and I shake my fist at them for giving me such a hard time. But now, I'm the only girl I know who has them, and everyone that sees them is in total amazement at how great they look.
