Okay, so I am a senior in high school. I went to after prom in Wild Wood with a bunch of kids from my school after my senior prom. We stayed in the dirtiest hotel but the good thing about it was that it was only about two blocks from the board walk, and that's where we spent most of our time anyway. We stayed two nights and 3 days there and every time we walked up and down the board walk I was tempted to just stop and get a piercing at one of the million studios along the board walk.
At A Glance Author anonymous Contact anonymous@bme.anon When A week ago Studio Wild Wood, NJ Location Wild Wood, NJ The last night we were there I decided to go get a surface piercing done below my belly button. I had wanted it for a really long time and I already have my belly button pierced so I figured I would just do it. I paid a crazy amount of money, and got it done. I watched the guy draw the dots on my stomach, got up to make sure it was straight, had my best friend look at it and then made sure he used a clean needle. Since it was really late at night when I got it done I just went back to our hotel and went to sleep.
I did not realize until the next day that it was not centered! I was a bout an inch to the left and just not right at all. It did not make sense to me at all because I had made sure that it was in the middle and had other people make sure the dots were in the middle. The piercer must not have done it right. I HATED IT! I was so mad and disappointed because I just wanted it to look good and it didn't. I went back to the studio and told them I wanted a refund, but they said they would not give me one because I had signed the paper to get it pierced and it said that if I didn't like it there was pretty much nothing that I could do. I was so mad, but there was nothing I could do so we took the 8 hour drive home (which should have only taken 3 hours, but we got stuck in Memorial Day weekend traffic).
When I got home I called a bunch of places who did piercing to see if any one of them would do surface piercing and most of them wouldn't. Finally I found one place that said they would do it and it was not that far from my house. Me and my best friend then drove to a piercer about twenty-five minutes from my house to ask him what he thought and show him my messed up piercing. He told me that it was not done correctly and said I should take it out and get it redone when it heals. He told me that not only was it not centered, but it was also not done with the wrong kind of bar. I had no idea that surface piercing were supposed to be done with straight bars. I just had seen it and liked it a lot.
I thought that this piercing was going to be so painful, but it did not really hurt that bad. I just remember feeling it go through my stomach two times which was weird because I have never had a surface piercing before. After I took the bar out I thought that it would be sore and hurt for a while, but that didn't happen. I took it out like a week ago and its already almost healed and it scabbed over. I have been cleaning it A LOT and putting medication on it to reduce the scarring. That's the only thing that I really don't want. Now I'm waiting for it to heal so I can get it done again before I go to Bahamas at the end of this month! The piercer also told me that it was not smart to get it pierced before I went to the Bahamas because the salt water is dirty and I'd have to clean it every time I got out of the water so it didn't get infected, but I don't care. I want it so bad that it does not matter and I will clean it as much as I need to so it will not get infected! I CANT WAIT TO GET IT DONE RIGHT!
I guess I learned an important lesson in getting this piercing done wrong. NEVER get pierced on the boardwalk! They wont give u a refund and it wont come out right! Also ALWAYS READ WHAT YOU SIGN! I guess that is probably common sense but it sounded good when I got it done!
