My trip to get my belly button pierced wasn't all that great. My mother, father, Aunt, Uncle and I all piled into my van for a 40 minute drive which seemed to take forever. As we were driving I lied in the back of the van hoping to stop thinking of the pain that was lying ahead of me.

I must say, the drive was really nerve wrecking. I thought about telling my dad to turn around and go home, but my mother was getting her navel pierced as well, so no luck for me.

When we finally arrived at A & J, in Stephenville, NL CANADA, I was surprised at what it looked like. You could buy just about anything in that store. There were hundreds of barbells, and tons of lingerie believe it or not.

While my mother and I were waiting for the man who was going to put holes in our belly buttons, we had a good chance to look around. I picked out 5 barbells that I wanted to buy if I survived getting it done.

When the guy was ready, my mother decided I was going to be first to get a whole through my belly button. I was getting anxious, so I agreed, unfortunately. I was hoping she would go first to tell me how much it hurt and then decide if I was going to get it done or not.

When I stepped into the piercing room with my aunt, I was surprised. The room was spotless and really very clean (the lingerie on the walls began to worry me). The man was very nice and asked me to hall up my shirt a little bit so he could mark the spot to put my new piercing. This seemed to take hours.

He put the cold alcohol on a q tip and cleaned all around the area, to kill all the germs. I waited patiently, or what seemed to be patiently. When he finished cleaning my belly button (ha, ha!) he took a little tiny ruler and measured how wide my belly button was and marked exactly in the middle. This impressed me because he then knew where the exact spot was.

After this, he told me to lie down on the table. Of course my aunt came and held my hand. Oh, did I mention I am terrified of needles? Yah, so anyways, my aunt held my hand from the minute I lied down on that table until I was done. It didn't take as long as I thought it would.

I thought the clamp was the worst part. It clamped down on my skin, like a snake biting me. It was very uncomfortable was well. I thought I was going to pass out, but that was it. Of course, I didn't look at the needle, but it wasn't all that bad going in.

After it was done, the man told me to stay lying down for about five-ten minutes. I felt fine, but I didn't want to risk passing out. Those ten minutes seemed to fly by! He told me to get up slowly, and I did as I was told. After I got up, I was fine, and then came mommy's turn. Of course I razzed her a little, telling her that it really hurt and she would never get it done, and you should have seen the look on her face. It was actually quite funny. Then, I apologized and told her the clamp was the worst part, which it really was, so I didn't lie.

While she was in there, which seemed like forever, because I was starving, I looked at all the barbells the store had, and I picked out 5 or 6. After I paid for them, my mom came out, looking happy, but queasy at the same time if you can picture that. See, she has the same fear of needles I do, so I knew exactly how she was feeling. After my aunt paid (her treat) we all went to Port Aux Basques, NL, for some pizza delight which was deadly I might add. But, being so hungry and all, I couldn't care less what I had to eat.. As long as it was cooked and edible (ha, ha!).

After the long piercing experience, and the great food, we seen my uncle off to the ferry to Nova Scotia and all was good. We got home safely, but it was late... but who cared anyways.. That was a new piercing so I was happy!

The next couple of days were the worst. Cleaning the piercing sometimes hurt like hell, but it was all I could do. I didn't want it to get infected and have to take it out. After about two or three months, the piercing fully cleared up and is still good to this day. I am still very pleased that I got it done, and would recommend it to anyone that wants to get it done! Just some advice: make sure you clean it at LEAST three times a day, or it will take longer to heal and will have a higher chance of getting infected! Anyways, that was my piercing experience!! Anyone who decides to get this done, HAPPY PIERCING!!
