Firstly, I'd like to say that I never thought I'd ever get a piercing that was considered "in style". And that I didn't feel comfortable enough with stomach for me to get a navel piercing anyways. I've always been a bit bigger, but not large by any means, I just didn't think it would look good on me. But after rugby and the surgery, I lost about 25 lbs. I felt that I looked great and therefore didn't care anymore, I needed a reward for not being able to eat because of having my throat ripped out.

Secondly, 6 days before I got the piercing I had my tonsils removed. I couldn't even go back to school yet. Now piercings after surgery is not a good idea because there is already stress on your body to heal the area that was operated on. When this happends the piercing often doesn't heal properly, so far I am not having any problems but I only got pierced yesterday so we shall see how it goes.

Many of my friends and I play on our school rugby team and because of this we couldn't get anything pierced for about 2 months prior to the season so we all had to wait until after. When my friend Kelsey told me that as soon as the season was over that she was going to get an industrial, a labret and her belly button done. Since I'm such sadist I volunteered to go and watch some pain be inflicted upon her. I was at home on recovering when she sent me an email saying that we won our last game(which I sadly had to miss)but our coach wasn't going to let us play in the play-offs due to the amount of injuries on the team and that that she wanted to get pierced as soon as I was back at school. I emailed her back saying that I could meet her at the parlor since it was only about a 20 minute walk from my house(10 if I was healthy). She replied that she'd see me on tuesday(the next day) as soon as she could get there after school.

Next day, at about 3:45 Kelsey, Amanda(another friend of ours who Kels dragged along)and I were downtown at Rocky's Tattoo Parlor in Tracey's cosy piercing room. I had just downsized my liprings to a smaller diameter, and as I listened to Tracey telling Kelsey about the after care I knew I had to get something done. It had to be my belly button because if my mom were to see she'd freak out since she's a nurse and I did just have surgery. Otherwise she wouldn't have cared if i got something done or not. Amanda and I ran across the street to get more money and we came back to help Kelsey who was ready to go. She had already showed her ID and signed the forms while we were gone. She laid down on the doctors chair and she held my hand. Tracey clamped her and she counted "breath in on one, out on two, in on three" and on four the needle went through. She squeezed my hand and said swore as the needle pierced her skin. She soon after decided that the industrial and labret could wait until another day.

I was cleaned, marked, told the aftercare, and picked out the jewlery(clear gems)and laid down on the table. I was clamped and now Kelsey held my hand since I was expecting a lot of pain judging by the way Kels swore. I barely felt the needle, but what I did feel felt like being pinched(and not even by someones nails... just the pads of their fingers). Tracey screwed on the ball(after a lot of attempting to) and I slapped Kels lightly and said "Liar that didn't hurt at all). But then again I do have snakebites in my lip. An industrial, an orbital my daith and lobe done in one ear. And my rook, anti-tragus and lobe in the other.

I paid we paid out 60$ and left to go to the mall and get some tea tree oil soap and to check out the jewlery we could put in of course. But we have to wait for at least 2 months which kind of sucks. At least we can go swimming and all that fun stuff during the summer. Although it was 34 degress celcius yesterday we could go now. I plan on getting one we saw with with little handcuffs through a tiny hood instead of a bottom gem. We are now the proud owners of navel/belly button piercings. It may be a what is considered a "trendwhore" piercing, but it is still me in every way. And I can't wait for the handcuffs.
