After bugging my parents for a little over two years, they had finally agreed to let me get a navel piercing for my 16th Birthday. My sister decided that it would be a gift from her, but since she was tight on money if it was over 60 dollars I'd have to pay the difference. I agreed to that. I was extremely excited but also extremely worried because I have heard many stories about how much it hurts. My sister ( who is the reason that my parents said yes in the first place) called XS tattoos & piercings, in Rochester, Michigan and made an appointment with Andy. She had a few previous peircings done there in the past, and it was very sanitary and not at all shady. I trusted her opinion, and after one week (it felt more like a few months) went by, it was finally time to go in and get my new hole.

I choked down some food, because I wanted to make sure that I would not pass out or anything before the piercing and we were off to Rochester. It was only twenty minutes away, but it seriously felt like I was in the car for hours. I was so excited. We arrived ten minutes earlier than my appointment so I would have enough time to fill out all of the paperwork, and I was completely freaking out. I was so worried that I was going to have an anxiety attack! Both of my parents decided they wanted to come, and I also got to bring my best friend. I was introduced to Andy, who would be doing my piercing and he was extremely good looking! Andy went through basic information about the piercing, how to clean it, jewelry, and prices. He mentioned to me that it might be better to wait to get the piercing, because it was March at the time, and pretty soon it would be swimming weather. I would not be able to swim at all until my piercing was fully healed. He was not completely sure that the piercing would have enough time to heal. And of course my mom sided with him, telling me I should just wait until the winter, but my dad backed me up of course. My parents always seem to change their minds, so I looked at this as a once in a lifetime opportunity (or at least until I turn 18 :-P). If I backed out now, I am almost positive they would not have let me get it in the future. Me and my mom filled out the paperwork, and it was time.

This had to have been the most anxious I have ever been. The butterflys were about to spew out of my mouth all over the floor! I waited while Andy went into the room to get the piercing equipment ready, and then I could go back. He cleaned my navel. He then marked where he was going to pierce with a brand new Sharpie, and gave it to me, to prove that they did not re-use the markers. He let me check to see if that seemed like a good spot for the piercing, and after asking four people(hey, piercings are kind of permanent, too!) I decided it was perfect. He told me to lay down on the table, and lift up my shirt. He loosely put the clamp on, and put a rubber band around it, because he felt it wasn't necessary to completely clamp the skin. The clamp was freezing. He got the needle out of the package and told me to hold my breath, and at the count of three i was to let all of my air out. There were so many things going through my mind I thought my head was about to explode. He counted down...1....2....3....POP. It was done. It was just a little pinch, and I absolutely loved it. Right after I hopped off of the table and asked him if I was crazy because I enjoyed that simple little pain so much. HE laughed, and told me that it's normal, and that's exactly how he feels. There was seriously such a rush when I was getting pierced. It was so renewing.

This definetly opened me up to piercings and I can't wait until I can get more! It also helped that Andy was very attractive :] This experience also proved to me that I can withstand a lot more pain than I thought I could! From everybody that I talked to I heard that this piercing was so painful, and it was nearly a pinch on my stomach! In a few weeks, I am going to get my first tattoo, and I can't wait until I get to write about that!
