I remember it like it was yesterday........ actually it was only a month ago! I had asked my mother to get a belly button piercing at 12 and she told me to wait until I was 14. She always figured that I would forget about it in the following two years, but of course I did not! I would not forget something this exciting. As my fourteenth birthday got nearer and nearer I got more and more excited and told my mom more and more about what she had said. All she had to say was You are the one who is going to be in pain! She had gotten it done before and her words scared me a little bit, but i am not a sucker for pain. It takes a lot of pain to make me cry and the way my mom was saying it I was scared it was really going to hurt really bad.

My birthday was a mess and a belly button ring was the furthest thing from my mind because first I had to go with my mom to pay bills and then I had to get my nails and my toes done which took forever! Then I went to my boyfriends house where the party was going to be and stayed until I had to go home, take a bath, and get ready for my party! So like I said before a belly button ring was the furthest thing from my mind.

About a month after my birthday I was at a flea market with my family and my boyfriend. I walked up to a small shop and looked over the belly button rings and my want to get one grew. I told my sister to ask the guy how much it would cost. She came back and told me that he said it would cost twenty five dollars which was a really good price. Even though it was cheap it was a good place to get it done. Most people say if it is that cheap the place is no good but that is not true at all! I asked my mom if I could get it done and she said she did not have the money I think she was telling that to me because she did not want me to get it done. Luckily I had just gotten fifty dollars for a job that I had done. I told her that I had the money and I would pay for it she agreed and we walked to the place and told the man that I want a belly button ring. He asked my mom if she was my mom and my mom said yes and he asked for an id. I walked away and talked to my boyfriend for a little while and told him how I was scared because of what my mom said.

When the time arrived I was led into a small room that was all white and there was a chair with white paper on it like at the doctors. I sat down and he told me to stand. I looked at the thick needle and asked the man if that was the part that was going to hurt. He told me no and showed me the clamps and said these are what is going to hurt. I closed my eyes not wanting to see what was going to happen. He told me he was going to count to count to three and he wanted me to take a deep breath. I felt the needle go through my skin, but it did not hurt that much. I look at it in the mirror at the new piercing and was very pleased. It was bleeding a little. He told me about how I needed to clean it twice a day and put petroleum jelly on it. I guess the jelly keeps it from drying. It makes it easier to move the ring up and down. Everyone says not to go swimming before the belly button is healed, but I have gone swimming about four times and it has not got infected either time.

Now it is about a month later and besides a little purple around the holes it looks great and have learned a lot about belly button rings so if you have any questions please don't be scared to email me I promise you I will answer you're questions, but as the subject put navel ring or something so I don't erase it! Here are some tips clean it twice a day with antibacterial soap or sea soak it to speed up the healing process and they also help protect against infection. I know when I get older I will probably take it out, but for right now it is pretty!
