So it all started from this website. I would get extremly bored and look around at all the body piercings and tattoos. I've gotten my rook pierced and the top of my belly button done and the next thing that appealed to me was the inverse navel. I thought that the top and bottom would look awesome.
At A Glance Author Cote When A week ago Artist I've sadly forgotten his name Studio Flats Tattooing Location Groton, CT I wasn't going to bother my parents about it because I knew what their answer would be. I had already convinced them to let me get a fairly large tattoo, my belly button, my rook and my other standard ear piercings. I wasn't about to ask them for yet another piercing... so I decided to wait until I was 18. That day finally came and right after school I headed to the tattoo parlor.
It was gorgeous outside and the piercer was sitting outside and I didn't want to disturb him so I just walked inside hoping that I would get asked "Can I help you with something?" And i was. I told that that I was here to get pierced and the girl went outside and snagged the piercer (who was extremly cute.)
So he took me in the back and asked me what I wanted to get done and I told him the bottom of my belly button. He said "okay" and asked to look at my belly button to make sure that it was piercable, which it was. He then asked me to stand up straight and very still so that he could mark it. Mean while I had noticed that the entire shop smelt like rubbing alcohol and cleaness. Also I noticed that he took extensive care to keeping everything clean... he even rubbed the pen ink in rubbing alcohol. So I had no worries about any type of infection.
After he had made the markings he asked for my approval and then told my to lay down on the bed/chair. I layed down and told my friend that she better give me her hand because of a previous experience she had I let her sqeeze my hand until it turned blue. So she owed me one. He then put the clamps on which is the most unpainful part of it all. I'm not quite sure why people say that they hurt like hell. I then asked him if he could count or something so that I could be some what prepared. He told me to take a deep breath and then out again and then deep breath again and then it began. I felt the needle go through the top layer which was NOT as painful as I had expected. But then it had to go through my meat and then pop through the bottom layer. Yes, to be honest it hurt like all hell. I wanted to to stop more then anything. My pain threshold is high and I will stand here and say that it hurt very badly. But the good thing is, is that it was over in about 10 seconds. He put the captive bead ring through clamped it shut and I was finished. I didn't feel the jewlery go through hardly at all, since he lubed it up with something it slipped right through. I thanked him and payed the 42 dollars plus a tip and I was on my way.
Since it was my 18th birthday I obvioulsy wasn't going to sit at home all day. So come night time I went out and I made very careful that I didn't hit it. When I did wack it, it hurt like a bitch. I didn't wash it at all the day that I got it. It was just too sensitive. But the day after I began to wash it with antibacterial soap and saline solution about 3 times a day. Then at night I would put some saline solution into a shot glass and hold it over my belly button and let it soak for about 5 minutes. It has been about 2-3 weeks since my piercing and I have taken it out and changed it already. I know I was instructed to keep it in for about 2 months i just hated the way the hoop looked and wanted to change it. I did last night and so far there hasn't been any signs of infection. It is still a little red and sore but I'm still taking good care of it and now I'm just waiting for summer so I can show it off.
For anyone who is interested in this piercing. Yes it does hurt... ALOT. But I wouldn't let it stop you from doing it. The pain is only temporary and it looks awesome. Was it something that I would do again? I'm sorry but probably not I'm very glad that it's over with. But go for it if you want it, you could have a very different pain threshold than me. So I definatly reccommend this piercing it was worth the pain and I love it.
So... happy piercing!
