When I first asked my mom to get my belly pierced, she said "no". She did not give me a chance! To bad for her, she raised me to never give in without a fight. About a week later, I asked again. This time I came with facts from Bmezine. (Thanks for all the great stories and information, it really helped convince my mom I was serious about getting my navel pierced) Well this time she said she would think about it but to not ask again for a LONG time.

I told my mom that I wanted a curved barbell because the rings were easier to catch on things. I also told her that a belly ring took a lot of cleaning and work to take care of and that I was willing to clean it two times a day with a salt-water bath and clean it in the shower every night. This time she said ok but not until Christmas because she was not going to pay for it unless it was a present. I instantly said I had the money and would be HAPPY to pay for it! She said ok but told me I had to ask my dad first. I knew it was over for me then! There was NO way my dad would let me get it done! I couldn't even bring myself to call and ask my dad that night because I knew what his answer would be and I didn't want to hear it.
The next day I was finally ready to call my dad but he ended up coming to see me instead. When I asked he looked at me with a sad look (he doesn't like to know he is losing him only baby girl) but to my surprise he said yes. I was so HAPPY! I knew now I could get it done! It happened to be Thanks giving break so I asked my mom if I could get it done the next day. She said no because we already knew I was going to get it done at Nathan's Tattoo Parlor because we know one of their pierces and we wanted him to get it done. He had the next two days off! I though I was going to die with anticipation. When Wednesday came, I was so happy. I knew as soon as my mom got home I was going to get my belly pierced!
That night when my mom finally got home (That day felt like a lifetime!) she sat down and was trying to get over her LONG day at work. I was like your long day? Yea right! Anyway I didn't let her sit down I was ready and we went right then.
When we got to the parlor, it was REALLY clean and we were greeted at the door by a nice girl. Turns out the person we wanted to pierce me wasn't there that night either but I was still going to get it done! The girl went over the after care with me and then my piercer, Billy, helped me pick out my Jewelry. I choose a really cute silver barbell with emerald stones in the top and bottom. Billy then took me up stairs and told me the after care, while he put all the stuff to pierce me in a steam sanitizer thing. (This shop was like so clean they bored me with telling me about it and reading the package about how the dot turns blue when it is 110% sterilized) Finally, after 10 LONG minutes of cleaning and telling about after care Billy marked me for my piercing and ask me to look in the mirror to see if I liked it. (Did I like it? Was he crazy? I could see the jewelry in it already!) I told him it looked good.
Now was time for the piercing! It felt like forever in the room waiting! I laid down on the table and he told me that he wasn't going to use a clap. That made me very happy because I had read that the claps hurt! He then told me he would do it on 3. 1, 2, 3! Well he went in about half way with the needle and I didn't feel a thing. Then there was that last piece of skin and it was a little sting but noting that bad! Getting my ears pierced hurt more than my belly. I then leaned up and looked at it. He wasn't done yet he only had the needle in not the barbell. It wasn't a pretty site. (The needle was HUGE) The site made me lay back down while he finished. Once he was done, he told me to look at it. I literally jumped up and ran to the mirror to see. I LOVE IT SO MUCH! I thanked him and tipped him $5 while he yet again told me the aftercare. They told me after care 3 times at the shop! In addition, I already knew it all from research I had done on it before getting it done. However, it's really not a bad thing to know ever little detail about caring for your piercing. I paid the Billy and left the shop. ($65 and worth every it of it!)
When I laid down to go to bed, I figured I wouldn't sleep because I can ONLY sleep on my stomach. I gave it a shot lying on my tummy and it did not hurt at all! I was able to sleep on my tummy the first night with no pain and I have slept on my tummy every night since then. I never had a problem with it. I mean a little bit of discharge but nothing more!
Just this weekend I went back to the shop, bought a new barbell, and had them change it for me since I knew they would sterilize it and change it right since it is only 4 and ½ months old. I now have a beautiful blue opal ring in it and I love it!
If you want to get your belly pierced, I tell u it does not hurt like you think a needle would and it's totally worth it! You will not regret it so go for it! I now plan to ask my mom to let me get my tongue pierced for my 14 birthday but I'm not sure if she will let me. Nevertheless, that's still a year away and she will have time to think about it.
