The enthralling story of my piercing, home piercing and consequential re piercing:

Oh well it was only a white lie. My friends all had it done and I just thought it looked amazing and I could not wait any longer. I had had my top ear done recently and caught the piercing bug so to speak.
I went into the piercers, chose my bar and told them what I wanted. The staff were friendly and helpful calming my nerves. Next they rang my mum to check it was ok (as I was 14). This delaying of action almost made me lose my nerve but I had all my friends with me egging me on so I couldn't exactly back out then could I?
I was taken through to the room and told to lie on the bed which I did. Next the freeze spray was put on my belly, which in all honesty, hurt more than the piercing. Kind of like pins and needles...
The clamp was next which was just how I had expected it to feel (I had been grabbing my stomach in preparation for weeks in advance) and this was completely fine. I was more worried about my friend nudging my feet in case he nudged me and then the piercer slipped!
Anyway, the needle went through without me even noticing it and I was just told to have salt baths and clean it daily with savlon. Turns out I was allergic to savlon so I just stuck with daily salt baths; at least I was a clean girl! I tried to avoid shower gels and things too just in case they aggravated it.
I had almost made it two months and was looking forward to taking it out however I think my fiddling had caused the balls to come undone and I lost the bar. To stop it healing up before I could buy a new bar, I decided a safety pin would be a good idea. I sterilized it of course and it looked pretty cool I though. My friends were kind of freaked out but I thought it looked good enough to be kept in...so I did. It was only a week later when I thought I should put a bar in it when I was horrified to find that the hole had shrunk and I couldn't actually fit the bar in it. I decided to try and stretch it by putting a sowing needle through it but it started bleeding and I am ashamed to say I fainted. I was fine watching someone else pierce me but I just couldn't do it to myself.
So a month later when the hole had completely healed up, I trudged back to the piercers, head hung in shame and told them what happened. They just sort of laughed like it happens all the time, so who knows? I would say try to avoid playing with the balls though like I did, it will save you the hassle of having it done again and more importantly the money! The pain wasn't that bad at all and I have to say I enjoyed having it done again; the adrenaline of a piercing is like nothing else. I think that's why I never feel them. They made sure it was completely healed before I was forced to pay out another 25 pounds. Ouch. I picked a different colored bar this time but still titanium, apparently this is the metal lest likely to have a bad affect or the one that people are less likely to be allergic to.
This time it hurt a little more as the needle was going through scar tissue and the piercer said it might pull abit but it wasn't excessive and it was fine. It is looking great again now, 6 months on and although it was a little red and sore at points it's now a great scar and I can turn it round and twist it pain free. I can even put grass through it (bored moment of randomness in the summer last year) though I would not recommend it; infections and all that jazz. It looks amazing still with a whole multitude of bars (The dangly ones have a habit of catching on knickers and things and twisted ones can be uncomfortable, so far I haven't tried rings though I may do soon, they were also cheaper if you had the piercing done with them.) I can't wait till summer so I can show it off in my bikini!
