Hi there, I'm Sarah and I thought I would come and share my Piercing experience with you. I found this site while I was investigating the pro's and con's of a reverse Navel Piercing. This site gave the push to have it done. I did ask on some other sites where the best place was to get it done. I didn't have many positive comments on some places.

Having the moral support from my friend we met up and had a look in two different shops. I decided that Selfridges was the best option.
We went up to speak to the guy behind the counter. I did have a few questions I had on my mind. I was going on holiday in 6 weeks and I wanted to make sure that they didn't think it was a bad idea to have it done. They said it "should" be ok....... I guess they don't want to say, "yes it will be fine" just incase it isn't. Anyway I decided to go ahead with it, he asked me when the last time I ate was. We had been to eat in Pizza Hut, he made me go and have some chocolate and then come back.
After eating the chocolate (which made me feel sick) I signed all the forms and paid my money. The piercing was £35 with a plain banana bar. There was not point having anything too fancy for a first time. He recommended I bought the aftercare pack, which was an extra £10, so I went for it. I would rather be safe than sorry.
Once all the forms were complete we were sent to wait, this felt like hours. I'm sure they do it on purpose so get your heart pumping. By this time I had already paid so there was no turning back. I knew it was going to hurt as I had previously had my belly button pierced (normally). It came to my turn. She called me into the studio, which was very clean and looked and smelt like a hospital. You could tell they were clean due to her changing her gloves around 4 times in the whole procedure. This made me feel more at ease. She was very friendly which also put me at ease.
She went through what I wanted and asked to have a look at me standing up straight. She told me to keep my other piercing in to see the centre. She seemed to be talking a long time to draw the dots on. She explained that my other bar was not central so if she followed that one the new piercing would be wonky too. I had already thought about having the top re-pierced due to it migrating. This was due to it not being done correctly at the time I had it done. Looking back to when I had it done 7 years ago if I had of thought I would have never have had it done there. She took the top one out and repositioned the dots. It was better having someone else there to have a look for you as I couldn't see myself if it was central.
The whole process of her marking me out took about 10 minutes, which didn't bother me, least she wanted to make sure she was doing it in the right place. She showed me two types of barbell she could put in. I had the choice of one with two small balls on the end or one small and one big ball. I decided on the big ball one.
The next bit I was dreading, I got onto the bed and lay there. My friend was by the side of me making me laugh. I decided that I wasn't going to have a look as I want brave enough. The clamps went on and they were painless. Just a little pinch but I knew the worst was to come. All the time she was asking if I was ok. The got the needle and asked me to take a deep breath in, as I did this she told me to breath out. On my breath out she pierced me. All I can explain was it was a quick sharp pain. I could feel the needle in me. I could feel she was having difficulty putting the bar in. Now this bit hurt as it felt it was pulling. The nest minute I was all done. I had a quick glance down at my new belly and loved it.
She put on gauze and told me to keep it on over night and take it off in the morning. As I had already bought the After Care Pack she explained that I should clean it with the solution 3 times a day with cotton buds, I have 4 patches to use at night just to protect it while I sleep.
We discussed coming back in June as I am going to check that my top hole has started to close to enable me to have it re-pierced. Also my friend is going to have her top done again. I left feeling very happy but a little sore. I was very protective of people bumping into me as I knew it would hurt.
That night I went out and had no problems with it, in the morning I took off the gauze and had a look at my new addition. I gave it a clean with the stuff. It stung a little but that shows that it's working. Everyone I have shown have said that it looks much better than a normal piercing. I am very happy with my new piercing and cant wait to have my other re-done.
I would recommend going to Selfridges to have it done, they are very helpful and are very clean. I would also recommend you go with someone who is going to give you an honest opinion on if its central. Its your body so you want it to be right the first time.
