I've nagged my parents for years to let me have my belly pierced, they always kept saying no and that it looks disgusting. They allowed me to get my cartilage pierced, and after that they started to loosen up to the fact that having a belly piercing might not look so disgusting after all. So they finally agreed to let me get it done for my 15th birthday.

I decided to get it done in the longest holiday before my birthday so that it could have time to heal a bit, before I went back to school. Which just happened to be Easter 2 weeks and a half off school WOOHOO!

I woke up on the morning and I was so nervous! I kept telling my self that it wouldn't be that painful because I knew it was going to hurt a little. I didn't burden my mum with the fact that I was scared so I just kept reassuring myself that it was the result that counts.

I hate the fact that some piercings hurt like hell, but I love them so much!

Everyone who had it done said they didn't feel a thing and that they had to ask the person if it was over, but somehow, I didn't totally believe them.

I ran for the bus with my mum because she just had to stop in the off licence and buy a paper and the stupid traffic lights didn't work and no cars would stop for us I jumped on the bus and sat in silence the whole way.

We walked in and it was all lovely and peaceful, I started talking to the woman behind the counter about the after care and I chose my banana bar( I chose a single jewelled banana bar, with an aqua/baby blue jewel) my mum paid for it with a 10% discount voucher and bought me some Savlon aftercare spray. I started having a little conversation with the woman when I heard an ear-piercing scream coming from the other room...very reassuring.

I sat down and the woman (called Marie) came and told me to come in, I sat on this dentist like chair and asked her what the other girl had pierced, and what did she say?...her belly!

I was so nervous after that, but she was so lovely she marked me out really carefully and asked me and my mum if it was straight. I lay down on this chair, I held my mums hand and we all had this three way conversation, about having babies and being a piercer and puppies hehe, yeah I know totally random! But she was very reassuring and made me feel really comfortable. She put her gloves on and told me to close my eyes, I felt this sharp prick as she placed the needle on my belly and then I realised that she wasn't going to use a clamp! She told me 2 count to five then I felt this really hard pinch and then a lot of stinging (it was a mix between n bee sting and having an injection) it didn't hurt really bad but it was enough for me to say "Ow! Aww that stings!!" Personally, having a blood test or your BCG jab hurts more that the piercing, but I'm not going to say that I didn't feel a thing because I did but it seriously wasn't that bad!

She then told me that she was going to put the jewellery in, which I didn't notice at all, she put the top ball on which pinched a teeny bit because she had to move the bar around, she then very kindly cleaned off all the pen marks for me and told me that I could have a look in the mirror.

I was so pleased with it! She put some covering over it and told me to keep it on for about half an hour to an hour, she kept telling me that I was very brave about it especially after the fact that the first girl she pierced this morning was the one who screamed, and that had made her feel slightly uncomfortable. I kept thanking her over and over again until my mum practically had to drag me out the room. I showed the woman behind the counter and she loved it. I was so pleased.

As we walked out of BodyWorks I gave my mum a kiss and said thank you to her and she told me that she quite likes belly piercings now, I think my dad is still a bit iffy with it though!

I must admit it did hurt more than I expected, but the pain only lasts for about 10 seconds, and Marie did say that piercing with a clamp is harder and more painful. The end result is totally worth it though!!
