It all started out about 3 months ago. I was begging my dad to let me get my navel pierced. It was one of those cases were my mom said yes, and my dad said "not until your 18." So the day after Christmas I asked my dad again. I called and begged him to let me get my navel pierced. He finally said yes. He told me the only reason why he didn't want me to get it done before was because he didn't want it to get infected and cause me a lot of pain. I was quick to tell him that it wouldn't get infected and that I would take very good care of it.

So my dad told me he would take me to get my navel pierced after I researched about navel piercings and I found a nice Sterile place to get it pierced at. So thats when I went to Body Effects Tattoo and Body Piercing Incorporated and met my piercer named Chris. He is awesome! I went into the Body Effects shop and Chris had me go out to Amscot and get a parental consent form since I was under 18 years of age. So after me and my dad went to Amscot and got my paper notarized, we went back to Body Effects and continued with the piercing.
Chris went into one of the back rooms and told us to wait out in the lobby while he got everything ready. He than told me to come back to the room, and there I watched him open a fresh needle package and get out a fresh sterilized clamp. Chris told me to sit down on a table so that he could mark where he wanted the barbell to go. So I sat down and he marked out where he wanted the barbell to go. He then told me to look in the mirror and see if he had marked it right. I told him I liked where he put the mark and he then told me to lay back down on a table so he could pierce my navel.
After I laid down on the table, Chris put the clamp on my navel and got his needle ready. He told me to take a deep breath and after I let out my deep breath he would put the needle in. I took a deep breath and let it out, and the needle went in. I didn't even feel it. I remember asking Chris if the needle was in and he told me yes, but not to sit up because it might mess up the position of the needle. Chris then took the barbell I picked out and pushed it through my navel.
After he was done, he told me I could sit up and look at my new navel piercing in the mirror. I sat up and looked in the mirror, I loved it! I was so happy. I then followed Chris out of the room and into the lobby to pay. He asked me if I wanted some solution so that I could clean my navel. He recommended H2Ocean cleansing solution. After I paid I thanked him and left with my dad. That was truly a day I would never forget.
But about 3 months after I got my navel piercing, I changed my original barbell to a dangle navel ring. That day when I went to school, a kid jumped in front of me and his backpack smacked me in the stomach. I felt an intense stinging pain, and then I suddenly knew what had happened. When the kid had hit me, his backpack had pulled on my navel ring. I didn't think much of it until I got home and was able to check it out more closely. It turns out that the kid's backpack had pulled down so hard on my navel ring that it had ripped the skin on the inside of my navel piercing. I noticed that the original hole had gotten bigger and had made the navel ring sit lower down on the lip of my navel.
I knew that this wasn't a good sign, so I put more solution on my piercing and hoped for the best. About 2 weeks later, I checked on my navel piercing and it was then that I noticed I could see the barbell through my skin. I realized that my body was rejecting the navel ring. I called Chris at Body Effects, and he told me to take the navel ring out and let it heal up. I was upset about it, but I knew that the best thing to do would be to take my navel ring out and let it heal on its own.
My navel is currently doing great! It is healing well and I have been using Vitamin E Oil on my piercing. I am going to go back to Chris at Body Effects in 2 weeks to get my navel pierced again. I can't wait!
So, I would recommend that if you ever have something pull on your navel piercing and it doesn't look right, DON'T just leave it and hope that it gets better, because in most cases if you don't call your piercing artist it won't get better. Also, never put a new navel ring in your navel if it is not fully healed. Thanks for reading this, and if you decide to get your navel pierced good luck to you!
