When It just happened

Location South Korea
This was done all of about 23 hours ago, so till fairly fresh, aside from the collapsing (oh yes, you get collapsing in this one).

Although I'm not a piercing virgin, I'm hardly a Guru of the art. I've been staying in South Korea For a couple of weeks now with my sister, and to remember the experience a little more tangible, I decided to have a 3 needle stand with the local piercer. After meeting him in a local pub (yes, very classy) I thought about it some, and he also said that because he knew a family friend so well, he would do it for cheaper. Each piercing cost me \15,000 which ends up being $15.44 for you people in America and 8.89 Pounds for my United Kingdom fellows.

After laying on the floor contemplating what to get done I had decided on a couple more in my belly button and a tongue web. I met a family friend to go downtown, since she was not only the only one who knew where it was, she would actually take me there. We caught a taxi downtown and walked around for about 15 minutes, finally found it, walking in, it just seemed like a standard, sparkling shop, and I'm hardly talking about the sterilization of the needles. I had started to get a little itchy about the whole thing, and he seemed to be a little pushy about the whole thing. Asking if i wanted a tragus or nipple piercing, which was not what I wanted, simply as I already had nipple piercings, and both tragus' had grown out. I scuffled through the boxes and bag of jewelery to find the right ones for my belly which were two jeweled banana bells, ones a nice lavender color, the other is purple. Very attractive. These two sit nicely either side of my middle belly bar.

Well, to start my rant, I had to stand during my procedure. Which doesn't help me calm down. I usually try not to look at the needle before hand, but this guy seems to just wave the metal in the air, possibly in an attempt to attract anthrax. He did not sterilize my stomach, and as for the needle? He pulled it out of a small zip-lock bag, that who knows what's happened to it. He very nicely wiped the needle down with some handy toilet paper before piercing. There was no trace of a plastic covering, and I had asked him about it, he merely brushed the comment aside, saying that 'this was how he did it'. After wiping it however, he just stuffed it through his jersey to hold it while he marked my stomach. To mark my stomach, he used a blue ball point pen, which had just been used on his hand to find out how I wanted them lined. I had already opted to have both of them on angles. So he drew on my stomach and I had begun to get very nervous, he kept telling me 'not to put so much power onto my stomach' I was merely holding myself in place.

He pushed the right side through first off, which wasn't as painful as I remember, but last time I had a belly piercing was about 3 years ago. Then after just thinking to go ahead and finish off my mess, I stood once again, while he sat again comfortably on his chair to get my left side done. After pushing it threw and standing for a couple of minutes, I felt really light headed, and after collapsing against the pretty bags, he put me on a chair, and gave me the worst shoulder massage ever, I kept telling him to stop and that it hurt, but every time I hit his hand off, he just moved to the other shoulder. This was not a comfortable piercing to get done, simply because of my own procrastination, and the piercer just didn't seem to sit down too well in my books. Even so I still got a tongue web done after the navel. Both piercings don't seem to sit as deep or as low as the middle piercing that I have, which does seem to get a little bit of a mismatch.

Although I slept well last night, better then the other navel piercings, I still have 6 weeks to go. He also advised me to get some medicine, so for the next 4 meals I have to take these weird pills. So hoping all goes well, I won't be needing to make another post on these experiences on why it's ok to say no to piercers who don't speak English properly. But I think I can say without a doubt that I will no more be getting a piercing done by someone who I can't argue with.
