I'd been having a look around BME for so long, a couple of months. I knew I wanted something pierced, but I wasn't sure what. In the end I'd decided on getting my tongue. I had NO parental permission at all, so I had to wait until my sixteenth before I could do anything about it. A girlfriend and I decided that we'd get it done the day after my birthday, together. We found a perfect, highly recommended venue (Hairhouse Warehouse in Marion, the boys are great, more on them later).

But then things happened and I wasn't able to get there and just whatever, so it all fell through. That was Saturday/Sunday.
Monday morning I woke up and thought "I should get my navel done tonight". I really don't know what possessed me. I thought that getting my navel done was stupid and what teenyboppers did and so not me. Up until that morning.
I went to school and told another friend that was what I was doing that night and asked if she'd come with me. We caught a bus down right after school and I went and got it done.
I was kind of scared, this was my first "real" piercing. And I was doing something my mother didn't want me to do. I'm one of those kids that has learnt that if Mum says not to do it and you do it anyways, bad things will happen to you coz SHE WILL FIND OUT. Day 2 today and she still hasn't noticed. Argh I hope she never does!!
But anyway. I filled out the form and we talked a bit and discussed placement and all. Seeing as I was getting such a common piercing, I wanted to do something to make it less ordinary. So we decided on a plain belly-bar, but through the bottom of my navel, and deep enough so that I can hide the top ball. It really just looks like I've got this little silver ball about a centimetre down from my belly button, which is exactly what I wanted, it's perfect! I love it!
When he was marking it for me I was silently stressing coz it looked so deep into my stomach, like really far down. I'm so glad I didn't make him change it, he knew exactly what he was doing, it's totally perfect. I couldn't stop saying "wow" and "thank you". Even after we left, I was still "wow"ing.
The actual procedure: He was the gentlest person ever. I wasn't even uncomfortable with the clamp, I was aware of it, but it wasn't painful or uncomfortable or anything at all. Everyone told me that was the worst bit, I don't think so at all. The needle going though was uncomfortable, but again, not really PAINFUL. What hurt me was when he put the bar in and the ball on. I think he had a bit of trouble as my belly button is weird. But that really, I was in a fair bit of pain I think. I can't describe it, I don't really remember it? Half an hour after it was done I couldn't have described it, it's weird. But yeah, the most painful part was definitely when he actually had to put the jewellery in.
He had put an old drivers licence on the ceiling directly above the bed, but upside done. It was too far away and really hard to read, so that was something good to concentrate/focus on when I actually had my eyes opened.
It was great how he told me exactly what he was doing, as he was doing it, so I knew what I was feeling, it was very reassuring.
It didn't take all that long, surely, but it did feel like he was at it for ever, I think he had to fiddle with the ball for a bit.
[A few days later]
I didn't get any puss or anything until last night, so it took about four or five days. I had just been using the aftercare spray twice a day, but I think it's kind of getting infected? It's got that familiar itchiness happening, so I'm going to get myself some non iodised salt for a few daily soaks and hopefully that'll get it all back on track. Other than that though, I think it's going great!
Here's a dodgy photo, if you want to see. I just love how all you can see is the bottom ball. That was exactly what I wanted. Once it's healed, I plan on going back and getting a bigger ball for it, I'm not sure that I actually want to gauge it up though...

So yeah, when I actually get around to getting my tongue done, I'll definitely go back. Any future piercings, I'd feel totally comfortable with The Boys at the Hairhouse Warehouse in Marion. I'm so sorry, I didn't catch his name. But he was perfectly gentle and professional and clean and gave good aftercare instructions, it was great :) I've already talked my boyfriend into getting his eyebrow done there :D
