I absolutely love navel rings and have ever since I saw my first one in grade 4. Ever since that day I have wanted to get mine done.

I didn't know any local piercing parlor so I took out the phone book and found one relatively close by. My mom took me to get it done the next week. It was some little studio that also did tattooing. I went in and came out 15 minutes later with a belly ring and it didn't even hurt that badly. So I did the saltwater treatment for about three months because that was all that was assigned. Then I noticed that the skin between the two balls of barbell getting red. Little by little the barbell was slowly getting pushed to the surface of the skin (also known as rejection.) I was completely devastated; I had gotten attached to my navel ring... I had only had it for 5 months. So I took the belly ring out completely and let my navel heal.
Since I had a scar from the rejection I decided to go get my navel pierced again when it was completely healed. That way I would have a belly ring and a scar instead of only a scar. So anyways I went back the same place and the piercer used the same jewelry as the time before and pierced me again. This time it hurt a lot more but it was worth it. So about a month went by and then I noticed the skin between the balls of the barbell getting red again and was very discouraged. I finally took my second navel ring out after 2 months before complete rejection could set in to reduce scarring.
I then waited two years all the while longing and craving a belly ring. I started doing some research and came across a local piercing parlor named Black Sun that only did piercings and not tattoos so it was supposed to be very hygienic and was supposed to be pretty good. I then decided to get my belly button pierced for the third and final time. My mother and I made an appointment. I really hoped that the third time would be a charm but I wasn't convinced. When we went to Black Sun, we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist and as my mom and I sat in the waiting room I told her how much I hoped that it would work this time. When I went into the piercing room for the consultation Pierre Black, an extremely nice man, asked me if he could see my belly button so I lifted up my shirt and he immediately said "I know exactly what went wrong with your last two piercings. The problem is that you have an unusually shaped belly button and an inexperienced piercer wouldn't know that you need special jewelry." I was amazed. One quick glance at my belly button and he knew exactly what went wrong. He then told me that I needed a circular barbell (it looks like a normal barbell but it has more of a curve, so it's about half a circle with two diamonds on the ends). He said that with the correct jewelry I had about a 70% chance of success. He then pierced me and it was by far the one that hurt the most because he had to pierce through about double the amount of skin because of the correct jewelry and not to mention there was a lot of scar tissue. He gave me a product named BAXEDIN to soak my belly ring in a shot glass with and he also gave me a very mild liquid soap named TRISAN. He told me to use each product once a day.
It has now been 8 months and I haven't had any problems with my belly ring and Mr. Black says everything looks fine. I am so grateful that he was able to give me something I wanted so badly. I really admire him. He really knows just about everything there is to know about piercing and it's nice to know there are qualified professionals out there. I recommend him to all of my friends who want piercings and none of them have had any problems either.I think it is really important to trust your piercer and I do. He is phenomenal and I am so thankful I came across his shop. Black Sun is everything a piercing parlor should be it's clean, it's more concerned about the well being of it's customers than about it's income, it has extremely well educated staff and it is a very comfortable and friendly environment. It kind of scares me that there are people out there putting needles through people's bodies with not a whole lot of knowledge or experience in their field. So I guess the saying is true THIRD TIME'S A CHARM!!!
