I never really used to want my navel pierced, because I didn't even think that there could be more than one way to pierce it other than the standard that you see on almost every belly baring teen who walks by. By the time I got into grade 9 it was considered strange for a girl not to have her bellybutton pierced; exactly why I didn't want it. But then I got to thinking, was there really a difference between the top and bottom and sides and all angles of the navel? I mean a circle is the same no matter where you see it from and a bellybutton is essentially just a circular pit on my belly. After I realized that I decided that maybe an inverse navel piercing would be for me, so I started looking into it.

He responded with the winner: "Because I said so." and I was NOT going to take that for an answer... Long story short, it didn't go well.
I waited for nearly a year before I asked again, it would have been in October 2005. Not really expecting anything, I made sure he knew that it was a year between then and when I'd first asked so it was obviously something I would not get tired of. He surprised me by telling me he's think about it for Christmas! I couldn't believe my luck.
Now, I still only wanted a single inverse piercing. Also, I didn't want to go alone so I asked my friend Megan, who had taken me to watch when she got her nose pierced, if she wanted to come along. She told me that she wanted the bottom of her bellybutton pierced to look a little different from the gaggles of girls who had the standard navel piercing (she already had the top done). That was when I got thinking that it might be kind of cool to have two piercings in the place of one.
I hit the computer and searched for pictures of other people's double navel pictures, and was, for the most part, pleased with what I saw. I printed out a picture to ask my dad is I could get *two* bellybutton piercings. He wasn't happy, but he said he'd rather I like it than anything. I was thrilled!
It was still October when all of this was going on so I had a long wait until the actual piercing. We'd set it for December 19th, because then I'd have two whole weeks without any hockey games for my precious piercings to be hurt. I contented myself during this time with looking at scads and scads of multiple navel piercings. Slowly, the day got closer.
About a week or so before the actual piercing, I was surfing BME and I noticed an ad for Emla cream. It said it numbed everything for about an hour, which was ample time to receive a needle through my skin. So one day on my lunch break at school, I skipped on over to the drugstore and twelve dollars poorer, I came out with my own little bottle of the stuff.
When the big day arrived, Megan and I planned to go down to Hemp at noon, so at ten o'clock in the morning I put a good, thick amount of Emla on my lower navel, because that was the one that was really supposed to hurt. I only put a little bit on the top because I wasn't really worried about it, evidently I didn't put enough because the top never did go numb.
We met at the shop at around quarter after twelve and waited at a nearby cafe for Dan the piercer to get back from lunch. Megan started to have second thoughts about the whole ordeal but she always seems to do that about piercings so I either ignored her or just called her a chicken. It worked.
When we went back to the shop Dan was sitting on a stool behind the counter waiting for someone to pierce. We filled out all of our forms and my mom signed in the appropriate places because we were still two months shy of being 16.
I'd been in the back room before so I already knew it was very clean and welcoming, there were funny posters on the ceiling and tons of pictures of Dan's many satisfied customers. Megan said she wouldn't be able to watch if I was going first, so I let her go. Piercing doesn't bother me to watch. Hers looked pretty painful, she said it was much more painful than her first navel piercing and her tattoo, so I was sure glad I had invested in Emla.
When it was my turn her had me tuck my shirt into my bra and then he cleaned me four times with two different solutions. Then he marked me with a purple piercing marker and had me okay the placement. I said it looked great and then I took my position on the bed.
I wanted him to do the bottom first, so I laid with my head closest to the wall and looked at the Simpson's poster that was above my head. Because I was completely numb, I thought he was still fiddling with the clamps when in fact, he had already put in the jewelry. He didn't want to pierce the top from that angle so he had me flip around to the other side. There was a poster with a lot of happy faces on that side and it was pretty funny, so I barely felt a pinch when he pierced the top. The Emla caused me to bleed quite a bit, but that was a side effect I was willing to accept. Many people have said that the pain after Emla wears off is usually much worse than the actual piercing would have been, but I didn't find that at all, I was sore for about three days, but no intense pain. Dan had me check out my new piercings and I was very pleased. He recited the aftercare by heart and then made sure neither of us had any questions. I'd been researching my head off, so I had none. Both of my piercings and the cost of the aftercare spray cost my mother (it was a Christmas present!) a total of $86.
I've been using their aftercare spray twice daily with a salt water soak at night and I'm healing beautifully, starting today (one week later) I now clean my new piercings once a day. My experience was very pleasant and painless and I would most definately suggest going to get your piercings done by Dan at Hemp 2000, because I have yet to hear about an unsatisfied customer from there.
