Since the age of at least six or seven I have always loved navel piercings. I remember going shopping with my grandma at age seven and buying a fake navel ring to wear. I always knew I was going to get one, but it never crossed my mind to get two.

My thirteenth birthday was coming up and I still wanted a navel piercing more then ever, so I discussed it with my parents and they agreed that on my birthday they would take me to get it done. The two month waiting time up until my birthday had never felt so long. Finally my birthday came. And as a birthday present my sister bought me a navel ring which I had planned to get it pierced with. As it turned out my birthday was on a Monday and the shop happened to be closed that day, with great disappointment I had to wait until the next day.

As I walked in for my appointment and checked in and talked to the piercer about what I was getting done, he said that he would not pierce me because I was too small and I had a lot of growing to do. Only being around 4'9 and sixty-five pounds or so at age thirteen, I understood where he was coming from.

Four months later and ready with a new barbell I decided to go back and see if he would pierce me now. Wanting it more then I did before my stomach turned as I walked into the piercing studio hoping that he wouldn't turn me down again. My aunt had taken me because my parents were at work, so we stated that she was my aunt when filling out the forms, the piercer said he wouldn't do it unless he talked to me parents so I gave him my moms work number and he called. My mom being reluctant because of the first time, asked him if he thought I should get it done, he told my mom that he didn't think it was the best idea because I still had a lot of growing to do but if I really wanted it done he would do it. I didn't care that I still had growing to do, I wanted it no matter what. My mom thinking it wasn't a good idea said no and I was yet again let down.

Twelve months had now passed since my last attempt to get my navel pierced. A few of my friends had gone to a new piercing shop and gotten their navels pierced with no problem ,some were smaller then me, one was even younger. Armed with this information I decided to try this new place out. I called my mom at school and told her that me and two friends were going to go and get my navel pierced after school and that she needed to take us so she could fill out the consent forms. As we arrived at the piercing shop my mom filled out the forms and left. The lady marked me up and had me lay down on the bench/table. She decided to pierce it with a 16g which I thought was odd because I knew standard navel piercings were done with a 14g, but I guess its preference to each piercer. As she began to put the needle through, and what I thought was going to be a quick process, I heard an "Oh Shit" I guess she didn't mark her needle up correctly to the hole and had to move the needle around inside before getting the needle through. Not the experience I was hoping for. Anyway as the piercing healed, I thought the pain of it would never go away, and I ended up stretching it to a 14g about a week later. After about two or three months the irritation and soreness went away and it healed up great.

Two years later, my friend told me she wanted to get her navel re-pierced that coming Friday. I said that I wanted to get something pierced too I just didn't know what. I contemplated getting my tragus done something I had wanted for awhile, but the next day I came to the conclusion I wanted to get the bottom of my navel done to make it a double navel piercing. We made the appointment for that coming Friday. Knowing the piercer I had chosen this time better then the one who had done my first navel put me more at ease, seeing as how he had done previous piercings on me. I told him about my first navel piercing experience and how I was nervous due to what had happened. He assured me that it would go smoothly, and it did. As he pierced me, I asked 'Is it through yet?' he said that it had already gone through and he was putting the jewelry in. I didn't feel a thing and have to say that it was my least painful piercing. Four months later and it has healed up nicely and looks great.
