I've got the typical, cliche story. I was fascinated by piercings and tattoos at a very young age. When I was 13, I wanted to get my bellybutton pierced. I was a work out pro, and thought that a navel piercing was the perfect asset to my abs. I'm also very modest. At this point, I only had two holes on each ear. My mother was actually quite understanding. She made some calls to places, but I was unfortunately turned down because of my age. They said that I could still grow a lot at this point, and that the piercing could re-locate and leave stretch marks. Although disappointed, I appreciated the information, and didn't think about it until much later.

Fast forward two years, I am now 15 and in grade 10. I at this point still have my two holes in each ear, my eyebrow, another one, a tattoo, and .... I began yearning for another piercing. I suppose I'm like most people who are interested in body mods- I turn to them as healing. When something happens to me, and I feel pretty down, I turn that negative pain and put it toward the piercing. The negative pain turns into positive pain, and by the end- I'm left with something beautiful. That's a little bit of the reasoning toward my body mods, but other than my tattoo- I pretty much just got them cause I really liked them. I was now onto wanting my bellybutton again, but this time I felt like jazzing it up a bit- and I decided I would get my bottom done instead.
Now being 15, piercing studios were a little more lenient with my age. I was now able to get the bottom done, as long as I had parental consent. When I had asked for my eyebrow when I was 14, I didn't really have to beg, and I got it days later. When I asked for my bellybutton about 3 weeks ago, I was told I had to really think about it. I suppose I'm famous for spontaneous decisions, so I didn't really mind waiting two weeks. I was basically like a mosquito afterwards. "Can I get it done today?", "Can I get it done today?". I was pretty much just so into getting my bellybutton pierced, that I wasn't being very sensitive to my family, who were under a lot of pressure with other things.
However, on the day of Tuesday Nov. 15, 05- I finally got it done.
I had asked the day earlier, but was told that I was gonna have to get it today.(which was tomorrow, yesterday.) I was looking forward to getting some dental work taken off, but was horribly rejected and this really upset me. Also, the guy that I liked had just told my good friend that he liked her, so I suppose I was feeling double down. I also had random purple splotches in my used to be bright blonde hair(which was bleached so the purple splotches are stuck in there.) I've never really missed a day of school since I was 12(except for one time where I had an operation, but even that was against my own will!) Yet, I was just feeling to emo, I opted out of school that day. Which makes sense, cause 30 minutes after my orthadontic appointment, I had cried off all my eye make up. Now all I had to do was wait until 5:45 until my stepdad got home to take me. The weather was pretty sucky, so we went decided to go to a piercing/tattoo studio 5 minutes away, instead of doing my usual routine of going downtown.
I called to make sure that they would pierce a 15 year old's bellybutton with parental consent, just because I don't think my frail little heart could handle any more rejection that day. *turns on 'The Used.' JOKING!) The woman was totally okay with it, and almost surprised that I was asking. As if, like, 'DUH!, of course you can.' A friend of mine had gotten the bottom of her bellybutton done just the week earlier at the same place, but I rather be safe than sorry. Ironically enough, I haven't grown more than one inch since I was 13 and last wanted my bellybutton done.(yes i have size 9 feet?).
Okay, so we got there. I know that with tattoos there's always a big waiting list, and it's smart to pre book. I know this from previous experience. However, with piercings it's pretty much just a good idea to make sure there's a piercer working that shift, and you're good to go. I went in, and my stepdad and I just signed some papers. The woman who was working the counter was the same woman who had pierced my friend's nose about a year ago, and I remember hoping that one day she'd pierce me. I swear, she must drink a can of red bull every day- she's on fire, it's great. She let me choose the jewelry, and fortuntely there were some jeweled barbells for only 40$, so I decided on that one. I asked if there was a difference between the jeweled barbell(which was orange), and the plain barbells which were 45$, and she said nope, "It's just cuz they're orange." Alrighty, so that worked out fine. Coincidentally, they matched my shirt and high heeled stilletos that I was wearing.
So now I walked in. It had been a while since I had been professionally pierced, but I was all set. If I can handle an hour and 15 minute tattoo, I can handle this, right? The woman was on fire, just like I remembered. We did the placement, and she told me that the bottom navel would be no problem. She just had to check, cause some people just don't have the anatomy for it. She even suggested that I could get a full circle done. :D (Don't worry, I'm not that cocky, I know many people are told the very same thing)
Alright. So after the placing, I lied down. We had discussed that the clamp was always worst part in our humble opinions. Of course, she had to clamp me though first. The clamping for my eyebrow was pretty sucky, and so was the bellybutton. Very pinching, very tight, very stingy. It wasn't for very long tho, only about 10 seconds. Then the needle went through, and this time, the needle going through wasn't very evident. In the past, the feeling of the clamp and the needle were very distinctly different. However, this time not so much. Both stinging, but the needle was quick. I warn you though, the stinging feeling lasts for quite some time after. I got mine done about an hour ago, and the stinging is just starting to disappear. It looks awesome though, and I'm totally pleased.
She put the barbell on with the bigger ball inside the bellybutton, to avoid pressure. S'all good, it looks good that way. I'm just really happy with the piercing, and the service at 'New Moon.' Everyone who's gone there has been happy with the work, and now I join them. I've gotten body mods at 3 different places now, and all of them have been outstanding. I'm loving my bottom belly button piercing, it looks steeped!
