Just over a month ago now I decided to have my navel pierced as I have wanted it done for quite some time now but not just a normal central curved barbell but something quite different, my intension was to originally have two separate bars facing diagonally outwards underneath my belly button but on the day I decided to have it done the piercer asked to look at my navel and he pointed out that the skin was too taught around that area and if he went through with the piercing that it would of turned out pretty nasty and send scarring all down my belly.

So as I had already prepared myself for the procedure and i was quite gutted as I was so excited to have it done he suggested that he could do the same thing above my navel with the bars placed diagonally into the navel itself and he would do it for £30 when it should be about £50 as everywhere else normal navel piercings are charged at £25 just for one bar!

I thought this was a great deal and knew the piercer would take good care of me as I have had 9 other piercings done by him already and knew he was a great piercer and always did the procedure as gently as he could. I have had my nipple, tongue, inner conch, scaffolding, tragus and 3 helix piercings all done by Carl at in2skin. He is a great piercer and I trust him with my life!

He's a easy going guy and great to talk to, he's dead friendly and so are the people that work at the desk! The studio is cool and stylish its a great place.

He asked me what kind of bars I would like and suggested the PTFE bars would be most suitable as they are very flexible and are less likely to increase the risk of rejection. So I agreed I would go through with this new idea of piercing. He told me to come back in about 20minutes as he had to prepare and sterilise his instruments etc, so I went out of the studio and walked around the shops for a while with my friends.

when I returned to in2skin he was ready and I was told to come into the studio itself, he inspected my stomach once more and asked the usual questions like if I had eaten or drank any alcohol recently, or course I haven't so I jumped up onto the 'dentist' chair and was totally ready for my new beautiful piercing.

The piercer cleaned around my navel and drew on it to make sure he knew exactly where the bars were going to go, when he was satisfied that the pen lines were evenly apart he picked up his instruments and was ready to do the real thing. Oh I was excited!

He clamped the skin he was going to pierce and spray this numbing spray onto my belly, the clamp was very uncomfortable and it hurt but it was a relief when the spray numbed the area and I couldn't feel the clamp anymore. He took his needle and passed it through the skin until it came out the other side, I couldn't feel him putting the bars in but I looked down to see what was going on and I saw blood on his gloves, Quite alarmed I asked him if I was bleeding, odviously I was and he said that I must have thin blood. I looked down a little further and saw that my belly was drenched in blood! As his assistant walked in I noticed her looking at my blood soaked stomach and saw her wince. The piercer told me it was quite normal for someone with thin blood to bleed like this so I wasn't all that bothered. He repeated this with my second bar and cleaned me up a little, stuck an adheavsive bandage over my new piercings and helped me to slowly get up.

When I got home I removed the bandage and was very pleased with my new navel, although it still had quite a lot of dried blood around it and was difficult to clean, i was extremely pleased with the result and will continue to be pierced at in2skin as it is a clean, friendly and professional place.

My navel piercings are doing quite well now, just the normal crustiness around the openings and a little redness. I love them, they are my favourite piercings so far! I used a savlon spray to clean my piercings but I came out in irritation and it made my belly red and sore. I have discontinued use with this spray and now only use boiled salt water to clean all of my piercings.
