**this piercing was not done in an appropriate manner and you might not get as lucky as I did and come out of the experience unharmed**

So it was about a year ago when my friend told me that she was going to call her friend who was a piercer so she could get her nose pierced, she also told me that if she got a couple more people she could get her piercing done for free. Of course I volunteered to get something done, being a good friend and loving all things body modification.

At the time I did not know exactly what I was going to get seeing that my mother or father could NOT find out under any circumstances. I also did not know that this piercing was going to be piercing in a kitchen of an uninhabited house in the middle of a kitchen in the middle of being remodeled. About a week later my friend said that he would be coming that Friday and by then after much consideration I decided to get my tongue pierced because I had wanted this piercing since I was eleven or twelve and at the time it seemed like I could hide it easily.

I got prepared, got my twenty dollars together, bought a bottle of antiseptic mouth wash with no alcohol, and prepared for a couple of days worth of swelling by buying some Tylenol. The day finally came and when I found out that the conditions weren't "optimal" my enthusiasm outweighed my good judgment. So I get to the house, armed with my Tylenol and my Listerine, and the man is late! HOW COULD HE BE F*ING LATE I was so scared I would pussy out. Good thing he was late because it got me thinking, wow this might not be such an easy piercing to hide, I have gaps in my teeth, I have a pretty small mouth and a large tongue it might be a little tough to talk without a lisp in front of them, and what do I tell them when I can not eat? So I thought, and thought, and thought, and though, what else can I get pierced, I mean I already have the money, so I asked my friend for suggestions, and she suggested something I never thought about getting before, an inverse navel piercing.

I have never been very confident of my tummy, not being the thinnest girl in Miami, I thought about it, and decided what the hell if I don't like it I'll take it out! I sat in the chair, which was a wooden dinning chair that was past its prime the piercer's needles, and clamps, and other equipment were all in autoclave packets so I wasn't too worried he also changed his gloves 3-5 times through the procedure. He marked the area with a green felt tipped marker placed the clamps on told me to breathe in, and then breathe out on the count of three.....*breathe in*....1......2.......3......*poke sting done*, or at least I thought he was done. All he has were CBR's so I was just going to have to deal with a ring instead of a CBB for a while, no big deal, the only problem Is my body doesn't really cooperate with CBR's for some reason, my skin is too stretchy or something . So he goes to put in the CBR but it gets lost half way through and its about twenty minutes of struggling and pushing, and blood until finally it is done and he snaps the ball into place. He cleaned the blood off and I ran to the mirror to get a propped look at it, since looking down isn't the nest view. I LOVED IT, it gave me so much more confidence in showing my stomach, it made me feel so much better about myself it was unbelievable.

Aftercare was not a problem, I cleaned it twice a day with dial and water and did a salt water soak once a day. Besides the occasional getting it caught it was no problem at all and healed in about two months.

A month into the healing process I changed the CBR to a CBB , not without resistance, a lot of effort, and 3 people trying to get that god forsaken ball out. I liked it even more once I had the plain silver CBB. About five months after getting the piercing I told my parents I was going to get my belly button done by my friends cousin who happened to be a piercer, they agreed since they wouldn't have to pay for it or sign, I came home and showed them, happy that I didn't have to hide it anymore and as it turned out they actually liked the piercing, they just wondered why I didn't get the "normal" kind.

I would not recommend anyone to get a piercing in the way I got mine. It was not a smart decision on my part and am lucky that nothing went terribly wrong.

Although I am very happy with the results if I could go back and do it, I think I would have to give it a second thought. If anyone is thinking about getting this piercing I would strongly suggest it, it is slightly different from a standard navel piercing, and I think it looks better on some body types.
