Studio Dragon FX West Ed Mall Location Edmonton Alberta For quite a few years now I have wanted to get my bellybutton pierced, but I just never actually got around to doing it, for whatever reason. Work and school kept me pretty busy for a long time.
I started dating Ryan about two and a half years ago now, and he has always loved bellybutton piercings, because their "sparkly". He's very cute, so I looked into it a little more. I have quite a few friends that have had their bellies pierced for some time now, and I asked them about it, to be sure it wouldn't hurt too much, and all that. They all told me it really didn't hurt at all, it felt like a "pinch" or something equal to that amount of pain. Yes, that was very nice of them to say, not that it was true, but it was nice of them anyways.
I decided instead of doing just a standard navel piercing I would do an inverted one (at least I'm pretty sure thats what they call it when you pierce it on the bottom, not the top. I'm no expert!) I thought that way it would be a lot prettier looking with those dangly bars you can buy. I still think if I would have pierced the top instead it wouldn't have hurt as much, but I don't know yet, I'll have to pierce the top too...
Well, finally I got around to calling piercing studios, and I called a friend of mine to ask her where she thought I should go, since she's been pierced multiple times, so she would know! She suggested Dragon FX in the mall, so when I was done I could console my pain with $150.00 boots. Very convenient! She told me I didn't have to make an appointment to be pierced I just had to show up, so we ended up going that day. She picked me up from work, Ryan was conveniently out of town at the time too, so when he came back it would be an awesome surprise for him.
I'm a pretty nervous person with needles and such, not really scared, just jittery. I'm alright with it all as long as I don't watch it, feeling it isn't bad, it's the sight of something poking into my skin, that would probably make me nausious IF I ever saw it. The whole drive down to the mall I was all worried and shaky, but let me tell you, it was completely worth it.
When we got to the piercing place I was supposed to pay before my piercing was done, and the guy at the counter in the front told me there was a tip option on the debit thing if I wanted to add a tip. So naturally, being wise as I am, I asked him why I would give a tip, when I didn't even know if it was gonna turn out good or not? Sounds bitchy yes, sort of is, but I wasn't comin outta there with a crooked bellybar, twenty bucks shorter than I should have been! Like I said before, I am wise :)
So we waited for a while and looked at all these books with fairies and dragons, very nice artwork I must say. I was called in after about 20 minutes, and I was so nervous I wouldn't stop rambling nonsensically to the piercer. He wouldn't allow my friend to come in with me, so I was suddenly a lot more nervous than I had been. He kept telling me to calm down. And yes, I finally was calm enough to be pierced. I layed down with my arms at my sides, and he told me to take two deep breaths. For some reason I kept pulling my arms back up to sort of hug myself ha ha. But I couldn't stop myself, he had to tell me to put my arms back down, probably 6 times. Now, I thought he was just telling me to breath to calm down a little more, but thats when he pushed the needle through..... well..... it was painful, but not unbearably so. The piercer was a very nice guy, but me being a first timer, I was in no way calmed down by talking to him. Which is ok, it wasn't his fault I was nervous, he was a very nice guy.
I stood up, admiring it in the mirror after it was all cleaned off, and I felt really dizzy, and leaned back on the table for a minute... layed back down again for another minute... groaned a little bit...and then all was good. The piercer (seriously don't remember his name) told me about the after care stuff. He said to suction a shot glass of saline solution to my tummy to clean it. It feels so good the first time you clean it, it's very cool and soothing. I got up, walked out all super proud of myself, thanked them a dozen times, and as mentioned before, consoled myself by buying boots.
To anybody who wants to get their bellybutton pierced I highly recommend it, it looks very cute and sweet, and I think it's a very feminine piercing. Easy to dress up and down with jewels too! And I would recommend the piercer who did it too.... and I would tip him now if I could, but I don't even know his name! Thanks Dragon FX piercer man! I love it!
