About a year and a half ago, I got my first piercing, my standard navel. As much as I loved it, I was forced to take it out some time ago, as it was growing out. I had been looking on the internet to find some new piercings, and I ran into the inverse navel. I was excited because it meant I could have my belly button done again without needing to break through the scar tissue (if I could even do that). I had been looking at pictures for a while, and two days ago I decided that I wanted to get it done.

Besides my navel, I also have my tongue pierced. I had this done at Longhorns Tattoos in Oshawa, so I was little skeptical to go to another piercing shop that I hadn't been to before. my tongue didn't really hurt that much, it was basically the healing process that was the worst, and since my first navel wasn't that bad, I didn't expect that this was going to be horrible either.

After school, today in fact, I decided to go and get it done. I was ready. My good friend and I were talking about going the whole day, and after a small bus ride and some money problems, I got there. I was a little scared since I wasn't sure if it was going to hurt more or less than the first time. But I was still ready. I went to Wild Ink, in Oshawa, Ontario. I've heard that this location is trustworthy, however I have never been there myself. I was waiting in the room for a good fifteen minutes for ANYONE to come into the store, and it was extremely hot. The store was clean, and there was a lot of jewelery on sale. The prices were posted, as were several agreements. He finally came into the room and I asked him how much it would be to do an inverse navel piercing, and he told me it would be 45 dollars and asked me if I wanted to do it today, so I told him I did. He gave me the forms to fill out as he went into the back of the room to get the needles and stuff ready.

He called out that he was ready when I was, so I went into the room and was about to sit down on the table when he told me to make sure that I was standing when he drew on the markings, so that he could be absolutely sure that the piercing was going to be straight. He made sure that it was aligned with the hole from my old piercing in case I wanted to put that one back in again later. After I was marked up, he double checked, then had my good friend check, and then showed me from two different angles. I thought that it should be deeper but he told me that the size of barbells were usually 8mm, so he showed me his measurements, and I agreed with him. He told me to lie down on the table, and I did. I was glad to see that he was using a captive ring, and not a barbell for the fresh piercing. From reading, I knew it wasn't safe to do that, and I was fully prepared to ask for a ring if he tried to do it with a barbell. I had my friend come over and hold my hand while he went through with the process. He clamped me up, and after some trouble from my tummy, I was finally ready. He put the needle through, and it didn't hurt much more than a strong burning sensation, and then the ring through which I didn't feel at all. The ball was a little stubborn so that stung a little, but that was about it. My piercer was extremely gentle, and kept asking if I was alright and if I was ready. I'm glad that he was like that instead of just some random piercer who does the job and goes.

I finished up, and got off the table slowly so I didn't get dizzy, and then got ready to pay. I gave him the 45 dollars, and then was on my way. I still think it could be a little deeper, but I won't really be able to tell until I put a barbell in instead of a ring. It's only stinging a little now, but I'm cleaning it often. I was told that it was best to use sea salts, so I need to make sure that I pick that up. The piercing is still stinging a little which is normal, and occasionally there is a little blood on the bottom exit of the hole, but I'm just going to keep it safe, and all that stuff. Showering wasn't too bad, but I made sure not to let the water hit it directly. Maybe I'll post pictures once I get a barbell in it.
