Lets start things off. I'm 14. The reason I wanted to get my navel pierced is because A) I am thin, and I thought it would compliment the area nicely and B) because I think it looks cute. I did not get it pierced because it was a trend. I don't ever follow the crowd. On with the story...

I've always been fascinated by piercings. I just thought they were cool. But there was one piercing in particular that I liked; the navel. Ever since I saw a navel piercing on a lady when I was 8, I knew I had to get it done.

I forgot about the navel piercing until I was 11. But I stumbled across a picture, and my desire started again. I knew I wouldn't be aloud it done, so I waited until I was 13. I asked my parents, they said no. So I started research. I came across this site and I started reading the experiences. They helped me loads with research. When I was done (about July this year) I presented it to my parents. Thankfully they said yes. But I had to wait until the end of August, as it wouldn't be healed by time we went on holiday.

The summer hols began, and 2 of my friends got theirs pierced. I was so jealous. But I knew I was getting mine done in a few weeks, so I wasn't bothered. Our holiday passed, and a few days after we got back, I dragged my mum with me to get it pierced. We went to Cosmic Tattoo, as I had some recommendations from about 5 friends. We went in, and the lady at the counter asked what we wanted. I replied a navel piercing, and she got out a case with some barbells in. I choose one with 2 bright pink jewels in it, as that was my favourite colour. We paid (£30, but it was £25 if you got 1 jewel instead of 2) She told us the piercer wasn't due in until 11, so we filled out some forms and went to look around some shops.

At 11, we went back, and it was time to get pierced. Liana (my piercer) led me into a room. It was quite small, but very clean. I watched her put some clean gloves on. She told me to tuck my t-shirt into my bra. She cleaned my navel, and marked it. She didn't ask me if it was alright, but I looked at it anyway. She then asked me to lie down on a dentist type bed. Through the whole procedure we were talking about the colour pink. I don't know why?! But talking made me feel at ease. She got the clamps, and pulled my skin out. Which doesn't hurt. I was a bit nervous at that point, as I thought I would be too skinny. Which obviously I wasn't, and I had been told by a lot of people that the clamping part hurt. Liana then told me she would freeze it so I wouldn't feel anything. I watched her take the needle out of a packet. I didn't see what was happening, as I was lying down, but even though she put freezing spray on, I still felt the needle pierce the skin. She then placed the barbell through the holes, again I felt this aswell. She said she had finished, but she put a plaster over it so I couldn't see it. I was told to keep the plaster on for a day, but being me, I sneaked a quick look at it.

The day after I took the plaster off, I noticed blood on the plaster. I looked at the piercing...it was beautiful! It was perfectly centred. The only bad thing was that it was red. But from my research, I knew that this was normal. I showed it to everyone. Even my grandparents thought it was cute! My dad, who originally didn't want me to get it pierced, said it looked 'nice'. I have to wait until the beginning of December before I can change it, but I think I will wait a bit longer than that. I've already brought some cute bars from when I was on holiday.

Its now been about a month, and its slightly red. But it hasn't been pussing. I do 2 10 minute saline soaks a day, one in the morning, and one in the evening. I also clean it using a cotton bud, dipped in saline solution, which I think works well. I soap it using anti-bacterial soap in the shower aswell. I went to the beach about a week after I got it pierced, and the piercing seemed ok. The sea water did it good.

The only bad thing about this piercing, is that I'm not allowed any more piercings until I'm 16. But I've already planned to get 2 more navel piercings at each side.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to email me.
