I have been in love with belly button piercings for as long as I can remember. They look so cute, sexy, and kind of mature in a way. My parents have used a million excuses to not let me do it. Like..."You're too young" or "When you get good grades." well, lets just say I grew up alot faster then I got good grades! Well finally, I brought home a really good progress report the day before my birthday (good timing!) And I guess my parents got tired of me asking and begging for them to let me get it done, so they finally caved in! Here's my experience:

After church, my Dad and I headed over to the Enchanted Dragon. To be honest, the place dosent really give a "clean and safe" impression. The piercing area is just stuck there behind the counter. No matter, I really wanted it done so i didnt care! I thought I was going to be really nervous, but surprisingly I really wasnt, I was just a little excited. I had to wait for a little bit while the girl did a nose piercing, so I had a lot of time to look at the jewelry. I kind of settled on a small CBR with a colored ball, but the piercer said that if i was pierced with one of those, it wouldnt be a big enough opening and other jewelry would fit too well, so make sure your Captive Bead Ring is big enough!

I settled on a larger one with a blue ball, and she said i would come back and sit down. She bagan to lay everything out. She cleaned my belly with 2 different things and then put gloves on. she leaned me back in a chair that really did look somewhat like the one's dentists use. Then she said "Ok, I'm going to count to three, and when I get to 3, I want you to take a deep breath." This is when I started getting nervous. She told me not to look at the needle, but that didnt really help. Finally I said I was ready, she counted to three and...........It didnt hurt! It was sort of like the feeling you get when you get a shot, but it only lasted maybe 3 seconds. I was so surprised! I didnt even feel her putting the ring in! The only thing that cause a little pain was when she was struggling to get the ball hooked on to the ring, which took a while. I really expected a lot more pain!

She gave me a sheet with some aftercare instructions. She said not to swim in a pool, lake, or jacuzzi for at least a month. I was tolf to clean it 2-3 times a day with unsented soap (like Dial, or Dove) and Saline Solution ( the suff for contacts) I found that Dial soap stings REALLY bad, so today I got clear liquid Soft Soap and hopefully that feels better. Also, indstead of regular Saline Solutiob for contasts, i got Wound Wash Saline (at Wal-Mart) which I think has a higher consentration of Saline/Salt and will heal it faster.

As of now, its been about 3 days and its REALLY sore. I didnt really expect it to be since it didnt hurt getting pierced, but it does! There's also reddness around each of the holes, top and bottom which is normal.

If you're scared that it will hurt alot but you want your belly button pierced you should DO IT! The soreness afterwards is barable, and it looks so cute!

*Just a word of advice...I've read a story on here that says to use Bactine, which is anitseptic spray...dont use it! it says right on the back "Not for puncture wounds" (I read an article about that and then looked at the back and sure enough, it said it. of course AFTER i spent 7 bucks on it...)

This is a good piercing that has a realatively low level of pain and looks really cute, so if you want it, you should do it! I just think it's really important to research alot before hand so you kindof know what to expect, and its even more important to find a good piercer at a CLEAN place. You should really feel comfortable where you're getting pierced! I know im not really one to talk, but the place I went to is the only place in town where you dont have to be 18 (there's only i know of, and the other requires you to be 18, even if you have parent permission.)

I think this is a really cute, fun and easy piercing! And if you take good care of it, you dont have to wait 3 months to change your ring to something cute like I did!
