Well, I have wanted my belly button pierced going on 3 years now and I finally got it done!! My Mom really didn't want me to get it done. A couple days before I left to come here she freaked out on me and we had a huge screaming match about it. I won. She didn't want me to get it done because apparently a whole bunch of stuff can happen and I told her it was my body and I could do what I wanted, and that it wasn't like its a tattoo (which I will never get) and that I can take it out whenever. So she finally gave up and said I could get it done (I would have done it anyways, I'm old enough!)

Anyways!
We go into Artistics and the piercer (Sean) is sitting in a chair just talking with some people and Briar (my friend) goes up and they start talking and he asks what she wants done. So we tell him what we want and he tells us its going to be a 10-15 minutes wait because there is one guy that needed to get done before us.
So we waited for about 15 minutes and then Steve came out and called us to the back. He explained that he's like Seans apprentice and has mastered the ears, but that Steve was going to do my belly button. So he cleaned up Briar (I gave her the pleasure of going first) and marked her. Sean ended up piercing her anyways and then it was my turn.
I was TERRIFIED! When Steve was cleaning me I started laughing cause it tickled and he was SO picky about the markings, he ended up wiping them off and doing them again. Me and Steve were chatting it up about computer games and stuff. He was really nice, he likes the same kind of games as me and just talking to him kind of calmed me down a little...I hopped up on the chair and Sean came in. I almost cried when Steve pulled out the package with the clamp, needle and hoop in it. All I could think about was how much it was going to hurt! I was SO surprised when the clamp didn't hurt AT ALL. They felt a little awkward, but not painful at all.
The piercing itself pinched a bit, but didn't hurt NEARLY as much as I thought it was going too. Briar was laughing at me the WHOLE time. Anyways, they pierced from the bottom up and the most painful part was when the needle poked through the top. Switching from the needle to the hoop didn't hurt at all, Sean left and Steve closed up the hoop and he was so careful it was awesome. He told us how to clean our new piercings (with epson salt 2 times a day and let it soak for 5 - 10 minutes and rinse)He also told us that I could change my ring after one and a half to two months which was a lot sooner then I thought, And he said to go back there or to another place to get it changed, but I'll probably end up doing it myself or getting a friend to help me who had hers done a year ago and changed it on her own. And then we were on our way. It was an awesome experience!
BUT! Before we left we were walking up to the counter to pay and Sean was sitting there playing his guitar and all of a sudden he starts singing..."There Once Was A Girl...her Name Was Briar..." it was funny...so we paid ($35 for mine) and we talked to the guys at the counter for a while. On the way home we stopped at Shoppers and picked up some epson salts to clean with.
The first time I cleaned it was a little bit awkward, but it was no big deal. Just use a q-tip with the epson salts and water and you're good to go. It doesn't hurt at all even twisting it and stuff doesn't hurt, so don't worry about that if you are worried. I was! And it really doesn't hurt. Even after you get pierced it doesn't ache or anything, at least for me it didn't. It didn't hurt at all after, just you could feel it there, but no big deal. And if people tell you not to wear jeans, ignore them, just make sure you have pants on that won't go over your belly button and you should be good to go.
Keep in my mind that I am the BIGGEST wimp to ever walk the planet! So if you are thinking about getting it done, go for it. I walked in there expecting to walk out with tears, and there was nothing. It was an awesome experience and I suggest going to Artistic Impressions for anyone in the area...Steve and Sean are awesome!
