Being 16, and in love with body modifications, I was doomed to fall in love with the pain of piercing. From my navel, to my surface piercing. I love it all! When I found out that I had 6 piercing, and not really liking even numbers, I had to get a 7th, or I would forever freak out. I feel in love with this so called "Horizontal Navel Piercing" about a year ago, and had wanted it since. One problem. My dad is ultra conservative, and that was out of the question.

But, me being persistent, I pushed my luck and wanted more. And I can't believe what he said!
"You know I love you but...I don't see a problem with letting you do both!" I was floored. Like my jaw just dropped! I know it means getting 8, but 8 seems better then 6 to me. Since he wasn't going to see it, he thought it would be perfect. I knew of Ring of Fire from my friend who has just about everything on her face piercing but a surface area. She told me she'd trust this guy with her life, so I had my boyfriend call to make sure he sounded like a good guy. I don't trust my own judgment sometimes.
So around 6:30 that night, we left to find it. Seeing as how they moved, we spent about 20 minutes just trying to find the place! But when we did, it was simple, but cozy. He didn't have to much set up at the moment, but he had what he needed. I told he what I wanted, and he told me he would customize make it...for free! I was so exited! After about 20 minutes of adjusting the jewelry, and finally getting the right size, he autoclaved it. He did 2 different bars, one straight surface bar, and one that was curved since I had a dip below my navel where I wanted it. As he marked me he huffed a bit.
"I don't know I can pierce where you want it. It's curved." So he had me pick out another spot, but then he looked again. "You know what, We can do it. Just curve the bar. After he cleaned me, marked me, and placed the jewelry in the water, she had me lay down. My griped my boyfriends hand and watched the guy up until the point he took the needle out. He placed clamps on me which was new since they didn't my navel free hand. It hurt a bit with clamps, but it wasn't bad, just like a annoying pinch. I tried to Zen myself, but by the time I was thinking of becoming Zen, I was to busy squinting my face. I usually have topical antistatic but I was a big girl, didn't need it. It was a bit painful. Nothing to cry about really, just like your navel, but a bit drug out with pain since there was more skin really. My boyfriend commented "Does it hurt? Just keep breathing your turning pale." I turned to him and was breathing really shallow and said "I don't wanna breath...it might hurt." He laughed and told me okay.
The part that hurt the worst was simply him smoothing my skin out along the needle. That hurt the most, almost made my eyes water. He adjusted the jewelry a few times, and finally got it in. Which didn't hurt. He did have an issue with the ball, which made me laugh a bit since he was swearing at it. It was a 16g, which is the second smallest hole in my body, so I can see why he had issues with getting the ball on.
It's been 3 days, and it's been lovely. Sore, but pretty good. It's a little red where the bar is, and you can see it just a little poking out of the skin, and the enter and exit holes are a little red. I'm using a solution called "Safe" to clean it, and making sure not to sleep on it, or really let my clothing touch it at this point.
I love it so much! And I'm very proud of the fact that I can say I am the only person in my school to own a piercing like this, and now I can stand out for doing something that no one else has. And if you wondering, my dad likes it as well. Although it makes him pale to look at it he always says..."It's cute"
This guy new his stuff. He was also one of the few people in Spokane to do surface piercings. I would tell everyone to see him. He's been doing this longer then I've been alive!
