I had always been as you could say, a goody good. All the friends I had since I was young up until the age of thirteen were very good kids and never did anything wrong. They never wanted to either. Now me on the other hand, I so badly wanted to do something! Although I had never had the opportunity through my friends, I, on my own, have discovered many ways to do "what I wanted". But all this changed when I was in class and one of the girls in that class, Magen, was talking about her tongue piercing experience and how she did it herself. Oh my god! Here was my chance! I asked her at lunch that day if she could pierce my tongue which I had normally intended to do but later on what my mom said really got to me. How she says they can swell up so bad you'll die which is definitely a bunch of bull shit and rarely, rarely ever happens. So then I made up my mind, I would get my belly button pierced. Of course my mom would say no and I have asked multiple times if I could get it done but she always said I was "too young". So I'd have to hide it and I found no problem in my plan with doing so.

You hear a lot about how people just want it just because they like it but you'll have to understand most of that's crap because everyone likes to stand out and be noticed. However, I did not do it to be "cool" or to "fit in". Never do it for that reason, do it for you!
The weekend finally came and I was so excited. My other friend Kayla came along with me and Magen and we went to the mall to get a piercing kit. We got to the little shop and browsed a little, trying not to be too obvious since you have to be 18 to buy the kit. However, the guy looked very mean and I did not want to risk anything by asking for it, just incase he would ask for ID and that would ruin our whole plan. So we planned on finding someone over the age of 18 to ask them to buy it for us, and of course we'd pay them. But after walking around for about twenty minutes, we couldn't find anyone that we thought would buy it for us. When we had almost given up, my friend Kayla spotted someone she knew from a class she took. We went up to her and Kayla told the girl everything. Turns out she was only 17 but she agreed to try it anyways. So we went back to the shop and she bought it. He did ask for ID but all she had was her college card which apparently didn't say her age cause he gave it to her.
We hurried up to Magen's room when we got back to her house. I decided I wanted it done on the bottom, which I later figured out was called an inverse Navel. I wanted it on the bottom because my skin was thinner there and I didn't think there was enough skin on the top to grab onto with the clamps we had. She opened the package to the needle and told me to lie down on her carpet. I did so as she took out the clamps and placed them on the bottom of my belly button. She made them really tight and they hurt like a bitch! They were not the same ones most piercers use. They were very cheep and it was obvious. I started freaking out thinking it was going to hurt sooo bad when the needle went through. This was because I had never had any other piercings except my ear lobes and my 2nds on my ears. I was really being a baby about it until her super hot brother came in. "Oh shit" I thought, I couldn't act like that in front of him. So I was like ok, just do it. And she did, and it didn't hurt at all! She pulled the needle through the other side and put on the barbell. Oh my god! That was it! I don't know why anyone worries so much about piercings like that! Totally pain free and I was so happy with it! It was done on the bottom so it was pretty unique or so I thought at least. It was done a little crooked but not crooked enough to really notice.
So of course right when I got home I took pictures of it and posted it on my site. I had been cleaning it with rubbing alcohol, not knowing that that was not what I was supposed to use to clean it. Thankfully it never got infected.
Sadly, about two weeks later my friend Kayla had called me up telling me her mom saw the picture and was going to tell my mom! Oh my fucking god how stupid! I was super pissed and didn't know what to do. I decided to leave it in until she told just incase she wasn't going to. The next day she told and my mom flipped! She was so pissed, and so was my dad! I was so upset that after all that, I had to take out my ring, but then... happy news!
Since then I had been begging my mom to get it and she said I could get it next summer! I was not satisfied with that answer and kept begging. One day my mom shocked me by saying I have the perfect birthday present for you! Yay! I would get my love back! Only 4 months (from now) until I can get it. Although I would have liked it sooner, I would rather wait 4 months than 11.
I would recommend this piercing to ANYONE! It's amazing and really satisfying especially if its your first piercing. But I don't recommend you do it yourself. It's so dangerous and the risk of infection is a lot worse. Also HIV and HEP can get on the needle whether or not you boil the needle, it's NOT sterile. And as far as cleaning goes, if you do pierce it yourself get cleaning solution from a piercing shop. You don't have to be 18 to buy it so there shouldn't be much problem getting it.
