So it all started in October 2004, I went to go get my belly button pierced. Had been thinking about it for a long time and decided it was time to do it! I went to a piercing place near one of my friend's that was very well recommended and I had already known people who had previously been pierced there already. I live about 30 miles north of London and the piercing place (blue banana) was in Doncaster, so there was a lot of time for me to get myself in the right frame of mind. Half excited half nervous!

Yorks, England, UK I went in and signed all the usual papers, received some 5% tea tree oil in almond oil to help prevent minor infections and showed some ID (always a good sign in a piercing place if they want to see ID) My boyfriend (Friend at the time) had decided to go first and get his industrial done, seeing all that blood on his ear made me worry a bit about my belly but I knew I would be fine since they numb belly piercings.
I had to wait around for a bit for the belly bar to be cleaned, etc. When I got in there the piercer, Emma, told me to take my shoes off, undo my belt (so it wouldn't rub), tuck my shirt up into my bra, cleaned my belly and she marked me all up for the placement of the jewellery (1.6 x 12mm double pink jewelled titanium bar). She told me to lie down on the padded table bed and began talking me through the aftercare. (Take a few pinches of salt, putting it in and egg cup with boiled water, waiting for it to cool, then leaning over and creating a small suction between my skin and the egg cup). While she was going through the aftercare she was continuing to pierce me. Just the usual stuff, spray anaesthetic on belly, wait for it to kick in, clamps on, inserting the needle through the skin then putting the jewellery through.
SO all was well for a while, but unfortunately one and a half months later I managed to catch scabies, which wasn't nice. To sum it up I had a huge itchy rash all over my body and was very worried about scratching my belly during a scratching session in the night. I decided it would be safer (so I didn't rip it out or get it very dirty) to remove it.
Ever since I had taken the bar out it felt like something was missing from my belly. Finally the other day (July 26th 2005), I went back to Blue Banana and decided to get it redone again. Signed the form again, £10 for piercing then plus the jewellery on top. Luckily for me it was buy one get one free with the jewellery I wanted. I chose a blue bar with a blue jewel to be pierced with and a pink bar with a pink jewel to keep. Emma pointed out that for an extra £10 I could get the top and bottom of my navel done. My mind was screaming "Yes yes yes!", but unfortunately I didn't have enough money, my boyfriend was already paying £10 to help me out. I looked at him and he just gave me a huge grin and asked me if I wanted the bottom done too. Of course I did! So he paid the extra £10, (he will receive a big Christmas present from me!) Emma changed the form to add another piercing on there then we were ready to go!
Waited in the waiting room again for the bars to be cleaned and looked at the many gorgeous tattoos on the wall (hopefully one of them should be coming next!). Emma then bought me into the room, did the usual cleaning and marking up. I lay down, had the anaesthetic sprayed on me, clamps on and the first piercing was done! It stung more than last time but I think that's because we waited less in-between spraying the anaesthetic and piercing me. Then I stood up and laid the opposite end of the bed, had some more anaesthetic sprayed on and she pierced the bottom, again it stung a bit, but probably the aforementioned reason again! She put a bandage cover on me which needed to come off in an hour. Very pleased with myself I hoped up off the bed and thanked Emma loads.
I noticed a poster on her wall of the different parts of the ear and realised it was from BME! Although the URL written on it was different (the old BME site) I pointed this out and told her what the new URL was, she was really thankful because she had been telling her friend the old site!
Feeling a bit sore I wandered off out with my boyfriend to meet a friend! An hour later the bandage came off, my belly was quite bloody but I washed most of that off later that night.
The after piercing on this was quite achy and painful on this piercing. The day after I felt very sore and bruised. I did the usual washing and putting tea tree oil on twice a day. I decided to take a few pain killers because of the aching pain. Today the bruising has come up a lot more but most of the aching has gone, just a tiny bit itchy but I am resisting it! Definitely well worth it all though! I can't wait for these to heal and maybe get 2 side navel piercings so I have four. If anyone wants to see pictures fell free to e-mail me! Thanks for reading!
