Well, this is a pretty boring story, but it might help.

I'm 15 years old, and have wanted a navel piercing since I was 13. Finally, after a lot of begging, my mom told me I could get pierced. I couldn't wait. Many of my friends have their navels pierced, and every one of them said it was painless and a very fun piercing to have. I wanted to prove this to my mom and prove my maturity and responsibility on the subject by finding as much info. as I could.

My first step was coming here, to BME. I found a lot of helpful info. and pictures. The experience stories filled me in on everything good and bad about navel piercings. I looked at the site and it's content for about 3 weeks before filling my mom in. When I told her everything, she seemed happier that I had taken the time to look into the piercing, and told me she would let me get pierced that weekend.

All week I got more and more excited. We looked for a place not to far to do the piercing that was clean, safe, and friendly. My choice was Bod Mod USA in Gardner (30 minute drive from my house). We called and made an appointment for two o'clock Saturday.

When It was finally the day I would get pierced, I wasn't nervous, just anxious. My mom and I hopped into the car and left to find Bod Mod. We were lost for a while though, an decided it would be better to walk around. The place was on a second floor, so we figured it might be harder to spot the sign. At about 1:54, we parked on the side of the street and started walking around to look.

We walked and walked, and all of a sudden, I saw a familiar face. I saw a man that looked exactly like the one in the pictures on Bod Mod's web site. My mom and I followed him, and what do you know, he walked straight into a small place with a tiny white sign introducing us to the place I would soon get pierced. We walked up to the front desk where Allison ( the piercer) was waiting. She greeted us in a friendly matter and gave my mom the papers to fill out. She asked me if I wanted a ring or barbell. I wanted a barbell for $65. Allison took me and let me pick out a barbell. I chose a black one, with white swirls in it. Then she gave me an aftercare kit. I gave the kit to my mom and she sat in a chair outside the piercing room.

Allison took me into the piercing room. She had me role up my shirt so that she could mark where the piercing would be. She let me look in a mirror to see if it was straight. I told her it was perfect and she told me to lie down on a doctor-like bed. She started telling me the procedure, then went to wash her hands. She opened up some autoclaved tools and put some brownish cleaning stuff on my belly. She cleaned everything well and washed her hands after she washed everything.

Then came the piercing part. I tried to look down as she put a clamp on my navel. They were a little tight but I could barely feel them. She told me to take a deep breath, and as soon as I did, she put the needle through me. It stung a little bit, like a pinch, but not badly. Then she quickly put the jewelry in. This was the most painful part. It felt like a very hard pinch or bee sting but only hurt bad for a few seconds. She screwed on the top ball and told me she was finished. I bled a bit, but she used a Q-tip to clean it off and some other cleaning pads also. The smiled at me and let me lie back for a few seconds (I was a bit dizzy). She told me everything about aftercare and about what was in my kit (sea salt mix, ointment, instructions). She also gave me a bandaid in case I bled anymore. After about 4 minutes I got up and was free to go. Allison had been very very nice and told me to come back if anything went wrong. I showed my mom the piercing and she approved. Then we went back home.

I just had this piercing done yesterday and it is doing good. It stings a little but not too bad. I've cleaned it a couple times with the stuff from my kit. I didn't have too much trouble sleeping because I sleep on my back. The only disadvantage to this piercing is the fact I can't go swimming for 3 weeks. (It is very hot and humid out). But oh well.

I recommend this piercing to anybody. As long ad you take good care of it, it will do fine. It does not hurt that bad and it looks great. Bod Mod USA is also a very good place for anybody in the Garner, MA area. They are very clean and friendly and have a huge selection of jewelry. Allison was wonderful!

Happy Piercing!
