As a teenage girl I have always wanted to have my belly button pierced. I first realized I wanted it when I was 12 but knew I was too young. My birthday was coming along and when my mom asked me what I wanted it hit me. I wanted my belly button pierced. I was now seventeen and my parents decided that whether they let me do or not in a year when I turned 18 it would be done so they might as well let me do it. I was stoked!

I wanted to be aware of all the possible problems that could occur and make sure that I could handle them. My mom of course made me print out sheets so she could read and make sure that I was not making a mistake. The only downside to me researching I figured out something that I didn't know... you didn't get pierced with a piercing gun you got pierced with a needle. That totally terrified me. I don't know why that didn't hit me at first but it was quite a shocker.
But, I still decided to get it done. After waiting all day it was time to go. I knew that I wanted to get it done at New Moon Tattoo because my friends have gotten piercings and tattoos there it's the cleanest and friendliest place in Boise. So, to relieve some stress and tension my mom and I worked out and then headed toward New Moon.
When we got there, in the front parking lot there was no where to park and my mom was all don't you think that's a sign if there is no where to park. I told her no and that it was going to be okay. We parked and walked into the shop. The man who was going to pierce me, Wade introduced himself and asked what I was going to get done. Nervously, I replied I want to get my belly button pierced. He said great, handed my mother and I paper work to fill out while he re-cleaned a room for us. My poor nervous mom began filling out paper work and could barely write. She wrote my name instead of hers she was terrified. She had listened to way too many horror stories. Wade grabbed the papers and told us he was ready.
My mom had been feeling sick and nauseas since we started heading towards New Moon and she was getting even worse as time went on. We walked in the room where I laid down on a dentist-like chair. Wade got some jelly to clean my belly and to help lubricate the needle. He told me to stand up so he could mark my tummy and make sure it was even and made sure I liked it. I smiled and got really excited and said I love it I am so ready.
I laid back down and held my moms hand, while she laid her head and the wall. Wade asked what my favorite color was and I told him baby blue I was thinking he was just trying to have conversation to calm everyone down but it would be the bead put on my captive ring jewelry. He got the clamps and clamped my skin and he said don't be nervous this is my first time too. I laughed and he told me to take a deep breath and when I exhaled he would put the needle through. I did and sure enough it was done. When I opened my eyes my pupils were dilated, probably from nerves but it hurt for only a second just like pinching your skin really hard. He put my ring on and my bead and said if I felt okay I could stand up and look. I did and I don't think I've been that happy in a long time.
As we went to the front to ring up he gave me a bottle of antibacterial soap for piercings, saline solution to clean my belly with two times a day and a list of precautions and frequently asked questions. He went on to say if I had any problems with infection to contact him or a doctor immediately. We thanked him and were on our way.
My belly button is so cute it has been pierced for almost three months which means it is almost completely healed and I will be able to change it in a couple of weeks. It hasn't got infected but I have been sure to clean it and not mess around with it too much. And I also went to a really clean and professional place where they open the needles, rings, and all materials in front of you from plastic sealed bags.
