I've wanted to get my belly button pierced for AGES. Ever since my friends and I in the 3rd grade talked about how to pierce our own. But of course, no mother would let their 8 year old daughter get her belly button pierced. At least I would hope not. Anyways, about a year ago, I was in this mall with my father, and we passed this display full of belly button rings, and once I saw that, my face just glowed. After we were done at the mall and waiting for the max (a tri met transportation system.) I was like "daddy, can I get my belly button pierced?" and I was expecting to hear my normal answer to that, but I heard differ this time. My dad was like "sure." Once he said this, I looked at him with dis- belief. Then I was like "WHAT?!" and he smiled and said. "I said sure, I'll let you get your belly button pierced." I nearly jumped out of my skin; I got so excited I got a head ach. But there was a catch... my mom wouldn't EVER allow it. (My mother's a nurse.) After my father talked to my mother about it for around an hour, he finally convinced her to say yes... but again, there was another catch. I had to wait till I turned 17. I was 16 at the time so I agreed. WELL my birthday was yesterday, but I got my belly button pierced the day before my birthday. And here's what happened.

Location Oregon My mother and I drove around looking for the place, when we finally spotted it... it was too late because we already drove past it :) so my mom turned around and we got a really good parking spot. On my way in, I could feel the nervousness slowly start creeping into my body. The first thing I did was walk to the display where they had the belly button jewelry.
"This girl here, would like to get her belly button pierced." my mom said to the man behind the desk.
"Does she have any I.D?" he asked back.
I looked at my mom and shook my head. I was so mad! So my mom ended up driving me back to my house, so I can run in and find my ID and drive back up there. I ran back to the car, but then my cell phone rang, it was my brother and he just "HAD" to go to the sprint store. So my mom took him there first. We were in the sprint store for about a half an hour and FINALLY we got to the back hole store again. We walked in there and I gave the guy my id. Than he handed me this panthlet thingy that I had to sign saying stuff like "it's not the blah's fault if something goes wrong blah blah blah." so I sat there and signed it all. Then the guy asked "have you eaten anything within the last 4 hours?" I shook my head once again and he told me that it wasn't wise for me to get anything pierced with low blood pressure. So we had to leave AGAIN to get something to eat. So we went to this pizza shop that was a block away. And boy, did I eat fast ha-ha. But once we were done eating, we walked back up to the store... AGAIN. Luckily that was the last time I had to leave. I walked in and the guy was like "okay, we're ready for you!" and he showed me the way upstairs. It was really bright and clean up there, anyways... I walked into this little room thing and the guy asked me to lift up my shirt. So I did, so, he cleaned my belly button and made a mark and told me to look in the mirror to see if it was good. I looked at it and I was like "It's perfect!" so after that, he had my lay down on this bed type like thingy, and he was like "okay, we're going to do some breathing exercises, would you mind taking a deep breath in and out?"
So I did, but on my exhaling breath, he jammed the needle in, and next thing I know he was like "okay, we're done!" I admit, it did hurt, but only for just a second. I sat up and I couldn't even feel it anymore. I walked over to the mirror and looked and I got the biggest smile on my face! I'm so glad I finally got it done.
It's really easy to clean, it's pretty simple... mine hasn't gotten red or anything yet, and I've had it for about... 2 days now. No crust or puss yet. :) Not really looking forward to that lol. Well, I'm a horrible writer so I hope you understood everything... and if you're thinking about getting your belly button pierced, TOTALLY GO FOR IT! It's pretty cheap too, mine only cost $80.00 and I got a really pretty barbell. It's totally worth it and you would probably not regret it! GET IT DONE!
