For as long as I could remember I had been extremely interested in piercings of any nature. I was always afraid of the pain though, so that was a deterrent as well. My mom had her ears pierced, so that was what first made me notice how beautiful a piercing could be. I was intrigued and wanted to have mine done too, but my mom always said I had to wait until I was older. I didn't like the fact that I couldn't pierce myself, but I knew she would make sure I waited until I was older.

Then one day I saw my cousin and he had gotten his eyebrow pierced and I thought that it looked great, then my friend got her navel pierced and I wanted to do mine too, but I was too afraid at the time. I asked my mom if I could get pierced, but she said to wait until I was 18, so I knew she wouldn't cave before then.
Finally my 18th birthday came around and I became excited because I knew I was closer to getting pierced. My mom had decided that I could get pierced, she even gave me the money to do it, since I was an adult. I went that following April and got my state i.d. and then decided to head to Jade Dragon with my boyfriend right after getting my i.d. and then I would finally get my navel pierced. I was so excited that day, I knew that I would finally have a "real" piercing, not just my ears. I walked into the place and looked around, I liked the set up, it was decorated with pictures of tats and there was lots of neon lighting. They were also playing great music, so I felt more comfortable. I knew that I was about to get my navel pierced, so I was thrilled.
Then a man named Tony walked up to me and asked what I wanted, I told him that instead of getting a standard navel piercing, I wanted an inverse, I thought that was more unique. I picked out the jewelry, a 14 gauge curved barbell with 2 skulls on the bottom with topaz eyes. I paid and then he took me and my boyfriend into a room in the back and got out his supplies, I began to get a little nervous, but I still wanted to do it. I sat in the chair and got comfortable. Then he marked the spot where he would pierce me and it looked great, so I was ready. He clamped it, which was very uncomfortable and then took some cold spray to numb the area. I saw him pick up the needle, which made me nervous,so I grabbed my boyfriend's hand, and then the next thing I knew, the needle was in. I didn't even feel it go in, it was great. I looked down and saw a little spot of blood, but I didn't care, Tony just wiped it off and continued. He corked the needle and took the jewelry out of its container. Then he took the jewelry and slid it in and screwed on the ball. I was officially pierced, it was amazing! He then proceeded to tell me how to take care of it,and gave me all of the things I would need to take care of it, and he let me pick out my free pierce of jewelry, that was it. I left feeling happy. I was in awe of the fact that I went through with it.
I showed my sister when I got home and then my mom later on, they both liked it, so I was relieved. I didn't clean the piercing the first night because it hurt, but the next day I began to clean it and take care of it. I showed all of my friends and they thought it looked cool. I ended up developing a really nasty blue bruise, because the piercing got irritated, but then the bruise went away, so that was good. It was difficult to take care of at first because it was so sore and tender, but things ended up getting easier and better. Luckily there was no pus or anything like that, so things were easier.
It has been 5 and a half months since I got it done and it looks great and is healing perfectly. I also ended up getting my ears stretched too after getting my navel pierced, I now have 00 in each ear, they look so cool. I am thinking of getting some more piercings, so who knows, I might have more stories to tell in the future, who knows.
