"Not until you are 18!" Those were my parents lines that I'd heard every time I would slyly mention a belly piercing. I wasn't sure myself...the idea was in a way gross and very painful sounding. A few years ago I heard one girl mention how painful it was and she was literally crying the next day...my idea went out the window!
At A Glance Author Misty When It just happened Artist Forgot the girls name Studio Voodoo Tatoo and Piercing Location Claremont NH With today's new pop era growing, many people showed up with piercings. Even going to the beach, it was hard to not notice the pretty jewelry that would make a tummy look so pretty and sexy. Soon I thought about it more and more. I'd spend hours at a time on the Internet just researching it down to the last detail. I'd collected over 500 pictures. One of my favorite things was to look at the actual jewelry sites.
My mom's email was cluttered with all the info I was doing on it...I suppose that helped in my parent's final decision. Recently my younger sister somehow got the permission to get her nose pierced...and lots of other piercings on her ears. Thankfully she has taken care of them very well, it showed to my parents 2 things. 1) If she could handle it...I could certiantly. 2) Maybe they aren't that bad!
Finally, last summer my mom gave in! We went to some erotic clothing store and they did piercings. They mentioned they used a piercing gun. Right there a red flag went up. With all my research I knew all the dangers of having it done that way...besides a normal 14gg ring would have to stretch into a tiny earring hole and that be just painful...I wasn't going to go through double the pain...No Way!
I quickly left the store after the ladies gave me a dirty look...knowing that I knew what I was doing. Besides I had soccer in just a few short weeks...I couldn't handle that. Plus the fact I go swimming all the time..I heard its not so healthy to do that with a navel piercing.
This year has been a year of change for me...in many great ways. I figured that if I didn't get it done, then I'd probably never. I soon found out that my mom wanted to add on to her tattoo. I mentioned my piercing again, and being a little hesitant, I reminded her that she did say yes last year!
My sister and her friend wanted get their cartilage done and my mom needed to pick the actual design...plus I had the money. The past weekend I went to Maine and in one of the stores I fell in love with a belly ring..it was gorgeous! I bought it...that kind of put my parents in a position to let me get it done...they hate when People waste money.
We entered the shop to find it was pretty cozy. They sold clothes and candles in the beginning and you'd walk down a long hallway to little rooms. A man with lots of piercings in his lip asked my mom questions and finally my mom said "Well these girls want piercings!"
Soon this pretty tan girl with piercings and tattoos herself walked in the room. She told us the percedures and cleaning techniques. I couldn't back out now! I'd come way too far, farther then normal. Mentally I was ready...I practiced this moment for at least a year. She let me see all the barbells, I picked the closest one to the one I bought that weekend. It was deep purple with gems on both top and bottom...I loved it! The others were very pretty too. She marked my belly but messed up saying it wasnt straight so she started over again. That showed me she cared. She had me lay down on a chair that kinda leaned back. I held my sisters hands as I listened to the man beside me get a tattoo. I couldn't feel anything...not even a clamp. She said "Ok just a few seconds it'll be done." Before I know it I feel a needle stab through my skin. It hurt...mainly because it didn't feel good...but I have had way way worse pain. A bee sting hurts worse! I layed down for it seems awhile...I didn't realize I could get up if I liked. I walked over to the mirror and looked. It was kinda small so I can't really see the lower gem but it's very cute. I love it!
I can't believe I did it!!!!! I'm so glad I got it done...it is sore and when I was sitting in the car it bled a bit. Now its kinda Bruising but thats totally normal.
She gave me thorough directions on a piece of paper. We went to Wal Mart to get Saline Solution and I've cleaned it twice since this afternoon.
You don't have to be a toothpick to get it...you can have a little fat on your tummy and if you're afraid of needles...trust us all on this...Its worth it.
What won't kill you will only make you stronger...or hotter :-D
