I have wanted a standard navel piercing since I was 13 years old and just entering the seventh grade and it's since then that I have been begging my mother to take me. Asking my father is out of the questions since he is constantly telling me how demonic and disgusting tattoos and piercings are and how he'd kick me out etc etc. Well he didn't kick me out after finding my tattoo so I was still determined to get this piercing.

My persistence finally paid off as it did with the tattoo because early in June my mom booked me an appointment with Tanya Paulin. Tanya and Bob's studio is a bit of a drive because we don't live in Welland but my mom was so impressed with how clean and professional Bob was when he did my tattoo that she told me I could only get a piercing done by Tanya.
Yes I could've gotten the piercing done by myself without parental consent but my mom's permission means a lot to me. So when she finally said yes I was overjoyed but then I was told that I'd have to wait for my appointment until August 9th. When that day finally came I wasn't nervous like I had been the day I went for my tattoo. I had slept okay the night before and now I was more excited than nervous.
Tanya wasn't going to have the shop open that day because it was a Monday but she was nice enough to book an appointment for me because Bob had someone coming in that day. We showed up late but luckily she was still there and in the middle of piercing another girl who was getting her tragus done. After that girl left, we introduced ourselves and she asked me if I had any questions. I had only one question about how long I should wait before swimming in a home pool, she answered that and then we headed out back.
As soon as I entered the room I noticed how clean it was, how bright the lighting was and how professional it all looked. Needless to say I was very comforted by this and impressed. She had me stand in front of a mirror and marked where I was to be pierced. She asked me if it looked even so I studied it for a bit and agreed it looked even. She then had me turn to my mom and her friend and asked them if they thought it was even. I was very happy with how thorough she was.
I then sat up on the table like she told me to and she asked if I had had anything to eat at all. I had completely forgotten to have anything to eat earlier so she gave me a lollipop and made me eat that. After that I lied down and she had me practice my breathing for a minute. She made sure I was okay and I could hear her getting everything ready.
She put on the clamp which didn't hurt at all, not even as much as a clothespin would pinch. Then she told me to breathe in through my nose and out through my mouth and then told me she was done. I couldn't believe that that was it. It just felt like a hard pinch and in fact, I've been pinched harder than that. I sat up and she asked me how I felt so I told her I felt dizzy. She had me stay sitting for a bit longer and told me I could lie down again if I needed to. A bit later when I said I was ready to get up she hooked arms with me to help me up and to help me walk.
I stood in front of the mirror to admire my new little hoop and I just fell in love with it. I love how it looks! I was very impressed and happy with my whole experience. It was $30 well spent and $10 tip well earned. I tipped her because of how impressed I was and because of how nice and professional she was, and she isn't usually open on a Monday.
I've been following my aftercare and info pamphlet religiously and so far everything is great. Instead of redness it's just light pink around my piercing, no irritation and best of all no pain. It's only been a day but I'm taking good care of it and I plan on going back in 2 months when my mom's friend gets another tattoo so I can show Tanya and ask her if I should change the jewelry after 2 months or wait a year.
Overall this was an amazing experience, Tanya was very friendly, professional and the shop was extremely clean. I would recommend Tanya to anyone, it was a wonderful experience!
