First off I would like to remind you all that this was one of his first large gauge piercings. Now with that said here is my little story.

Here is my experience. I guess it would all start with deciding on what I was going to get Colin to pierce on me. Since he was fairly new to the body piercing I wanted something that would be fairly easy but not too wimpy. So after some discussion with Brodie and Colin we all decided I would sacrifice my navel, on one condition. We had to go thick because I ain't no hair dresser (no offense to hair dressers). We got looking at the jewelry that I brought with me and chose to go with a 10 gauge CBR. All of this took place fairly early in the day so the only thing to do now was to wait til we closed up shop and get this over and done with. Of course you wait seven hours to get something done and you kind of forget that you are suppose to have something pierced.
The time came and we closed up shop and all went to the piercing room to give my navel a whole new look. There we all were in the room, Colin started setting up all of his gear and I got prepared to have my navel done. Being a piercer I was with out a doubt more prepared than the average navel client that would come into a studio, which is good because I wanted Colin to be as relaxed as possible and take his time and ask any questions he could think of, we went through the normal procedures of shaving my gut, prepping the skin and a series of marks and measurements making sure that the jewelry would sit nice and be straight because there is nothing I hate more than a crooked piercing.
Once we had everything marked well and were ready to go I laid down on the piercing bed and got myself ready. I have been pierced probably about seventy to eighty times (a lot of them I have done myself, hey I get bored at work sometimes and can't help it) so it wasn't that big of a deal but I was still a bit nervous. Anyway, I'm laying there just getting into that little happy place were nothing really matters, and Brodie is helping Colin get me clamped well. At first he was trying it without rubber bands because that is the way he has been shown (Brodie has been poking people for a living now six to seven years). After a few attempts I suggested that he try using the rubber bands, he's new so not having to worry about keeping tension on the forceps while reaching for the needle and such may be a little easier for him. We got him hooked up with the rubber bands and got me all clamped and ready to go.
Needle in hand he gets me to start my breathing as to his instructions which he had down pat, and is does make all the difference in the world as far as I am concerned. Needle through and he missed his mark by a little bit which frustrated him a little and Brodie and I both told him relax back the needle up a bit and put it through in the right spot, so he backed up some and bang on the second time. Now he takes off the clamp and gets ready to insert the jewelry. He lost contact which is no big deal.
I think it was because he was a bit frazzled from missing his mark the first time, and maybe thought Brodie and I would have thought less of his capabilities which couldn't be further from the truth, this cat is a great piercer and he is only gonna get better. Maybe I'm getting a wee off topic but anyway. Lost contact, pulled out the needle and stopped the bleeding and got it all ready again, the second time he missed his mark again backed up right away and bang on the second time, in between the piercing and jewelry insertion i got him to breath some himself, just to help calm the nerves, and the jewelry went in as smooth as could be. I think this part made me the most nervous because you hear those horror stories of people slipping with the closers and pinching the hell out of your fresh pierced skin, but there were no problems he got the ring closed down good and the bead put into place.
Now it was all over but the crying, and cleaning, he cleaned me all up and then we went and got loaded.
Great job by the way Colin if you happen to read this.
