I am 16 years old and I have wanted to get my navel pierced since people first started having it done, but the one thing that always put me off was actually getting it done as am terrified of needles.

I am going on holiday in July and I imagined how nice a piercing would look when wearing a bikini. This made me decide I would just go for it and get it done as it would be over in seconds and I would never have to go through it again.

So today I made my way to Ackers tattoo and body piercing studio in Leigh as I had heard from other people it was one of the best places to go and it was very hygienic.

On my way to the studio I got really worked up as I was so nervous. I felt sick and dizzy and was questioning if I really wanted to go through with the piercing. After a few minutes of thinking I decided I would force myself to get it done as I new afterwards I would be glad I did it.

Eventually I arrived at the studio I walked in and was asked to pick what I wanted 2 be pierced with. I chose a normal sized bar with a clear diamond on top of the ball and three more clear diamonds that dangle at the other end of the bar. The man took the bar I wanted and went into the back room to get everything ready while I sat waiting in the waiting room.

When he was ready he came out and lead me into the back room. He asked me to sit back on the chair, so I did. The chair was like a dentists chair, which tilted back when I was sat in it. He pressed a button and the chair was rising higher off the ground until I was the right height for him to pierce my navel.

The first thing he did was clean around my belly button. When he had done this he asked me to stand in front of him while he marked where the hole would be made. Then he asked me to get back onto the chair, which I did.

He put the clamp over the marks he had already made on my belly button, but he did not clamp it tight enough for me to feel a pinch. He then told me that he was now going to spray a cold liquid all over the area where the piercing would go. Before he did this I told him that I did not want to know what he was doing and I didn't want 2 see anything, which he was fine with. He told me that after a few minutes it would start to tingle which would mean the area was numbed enough.

I was lying there looking at the ceiling wondering when I would feel this tingle I had been told about. A few seconds passed and still I felt nothing, I started to panic that he was going to do it when the liquid had not numbed the area enough! He touched my stomach and asked if I could feel it. I could faintly feel it. He asked if I thought it was numbed enough and I said I didn't know because I didn't know what to expect. The mad said "oh well you will just have to not have it done then!" and he patted my stomach.

I sat up wondering what was going on and I looked down at my stomach. There was a white bandage covering my belly button. I was confused and looked at the man who was laughing. I asked if he had done it and he said yes! I was so shocked I couldn't believe it!

He went through how to look after and clean my belly button four times a day and then said I could go. I walked out of the room beaming! I could not believe I had actually had it done and I honestly didn't feel a single thing! Not even the slight tingle that I was expecting to be the least painful part of the experience!

When I got home I took the bandage off and cleaned the area. I am not going to lie and say that it was clean with no blood because it wasn't. There was a small amount of blood on the bandage as well as the liquid that I am guessing was the one used to numb the area. I have now had my navel pierced for about 8 hours, and it is still not hurting at all!

If you are considering getting your navel pierced my opinion is go for it! I would highly recommend going to Ackers in Leigh if you can get transport there as it is very hygienic and the piercers are friendly and understand if you are nervous. Also they numb the area so you don't feel anything, which some studios don't do.
