I know that there are probably a lot of people out there that think getting your navel pierced isn't a big deal. It was to me. When I was 15 I really wanted my navel pierced, but my mom and step dad are very strict (my mom won't let me get my 3rd ear piercing). Finally when I was turning 16 I got my mom to go along with it, without my stepdad knowing. She said that she would pay half of it for me and that would be my birthday present.
At A Glance Author Kristina Contact Kristina@bme.anon When A year ago Artist Can't Remeber Studio First Impressions Clinic Location Aberdeen, SD I live forty miles away from where I was getting it done, so I said that I would drive, it would help me take my mind of getting pierced. We left early in the morning and I went to get my mom from work. We went out to breakfast and then headed up there. My mom slept most of the way, but I had the radio going and was keeping my mind off the whole thing, but it was still in the back of my head. I am the biggest sissy in the world. I can't stand needles and I even worry about getting my ears pierced (the few time that my parents let me). I was so nervous I smoked almost a pack of cigarettes in forty-five minutes.
We got up there and had to wait a little bit. We were looking at flash and other stuff. Finally they had my mom get out her ID and they told me to pick what kind of jewelry I wanted. I picked a plain silver barbell. I was so nervous, I couldn't stand it...I wanted it done. While we were sitting there someone had gotten their nose and tongue pierced when she left the piercer's daughter was really rude and making fun of her. That really made me mad.
Anyways she called me back and marked me. The spots looked good so I said go ahead. She laid me down in the chair and started getting everything ready. Finally she sprayed the numbing stuff on me and started the piercing. It didn't hurt at all, I barely felt it. I have gotten myself all worked up for nothing. Anyways, she didn't even tell me about the after care she just gave me a piece of paper and
called someone else. I was so ticked off. I paid for it and left.
I took very good care of it, but it was infected. It stayed infected for quite a while but finally it healed up. In the mean time my aunt and I went to go get tattoos...at a different place. I had the people there look at it and they said that they deadening stuff was probably bad and that it why it wouldn't heal because the skin around it wouldn't either. They also said that I didn't have enough skin in it. So we got our tattoos and then I asked my artist if he could fix my belly ring. I thought that this was strange. He took a flat ended needle and put it in my top hole, then he went deeper into my skin and out the bottom hole. It hurt a little but it just felt like I had something crawling in my stomach. It healed in no time...and it looks wonderful.
I am so happy that I asked about it and I will never go back to First Impressions Clinic - EVER! Anyways, I hope that you learned from my story to check out places that you are getting things done at. I have so many navel rings. And I recently lost weight so I am showing it off. You can't even tell that he went back farther. There is more skin so it looks good, not just like it is hanging there like before.
My tattoo is wonderful too. It shows off my belly because it is around my navel..three dolphin swimming in a circle. I just wish that I would have known what I was getting into before I got it done the first time. The artist was rude and didn't tell me anything...PLUS she didn't even do it right.
I went with a friend to get their navel pierced the other day..she went there. I told the piercer what had happened and she just shrugged her shoulders and said that not everything can be perfect. I warned my friend about going there but she wanted to anyways. Her navel ring looks okay but it definately should have more skin in there. Her's took quite a while to heal too...but it looks good. I definately got over my fear of piercing after that...actually I have pierced my tongue, my nose, and lip since then. It is cool...but make sure that you check out the place!
