About a year ago I decided to get my belly button pierced, because I've always liked the look of belly rings. I knew that if I has asked my parents, they would have said "NO!" so I waited until I was 18 to go and have it professionally done. I've had my belly pierced before at Gotham Body Piercing in San Francisco while my friends and I were on vacation, and I thought it looked pretty cool, but I went out to a club that same night and some guy lifted up my shirt and poked his finger in my belly button, but didn't think much of it (it kinda felt nice, though). And when my friends and I got back to the hotel we were all too drunk to take showers so instead we passed out on the bed and lo and behold, the next morning, my beautiful belly button was red and kinda nasty looking. That same morning I soaked it in salt water, cleaned it, but still it was painful and not that pretty to look at. So after about 5 months of trying to get it to heal and stop pussing (I know, eew) I t ook it out, it healed, and a scar was left, which left me unhappy :(

About a year ago I decided to get it pierced again, this time the piercer made it a little deeper and over the scar, so it'll have a lesser chance of it getting infected, so the piercer said. The studio was a little closer to where I live because if anything should go wrong with it, at least my piercer would be close by and I could just drop by and have him take a look at it.. but I was a little nervous, though not as nervous because I kinda knew what to expect having already had my belly button pierced once before. The piercer took a q-tip and cleaned every little crevice of my belly button with some antibacterial wash, marked my belly button, where the needle was going to go in and come out), and made sure that I liked where he was going to pierce. People say the clamps hurt the most, but I thought the needle going through the top of the skin hurt, because he did make it go deeper inside my belly button. The whole procedure only took about 5 minutes, but to me it only f elt like a few seconds cuz I was so excited. When I got up and put my shirt back on, I looked in the mirror and was happy with what I saw. It's just a standard barbell that goes through the top of my belly button but since it's a little deeper this time I feel like it's so sensitive. Everytime I twist my body or my hand brushes up against it, it sends an erotic rush through me, almost like an electric jolt. I've thought about getting a navel industrial, where the barbell connects with the lower skin of the belly button. The belly button is one of my erotic zones, and piercing it just makes it even more sensitive. It keeps me awake and amuses me when I'm stopped at red lights or something :) I love the stares that I get from people whenever I'm at the beach, they either think it's cool or they get turned off by it because they think it's too gay. Well, *newsflash*...

All my friends think it's cool and even my "girl"-friends think that it's sexy, and I've even coaxed my friend to go and get his done. I haven't had a problem with it, though I did religiously take care of it with antibacterial washes, salt soaks, Bactine and Q-tip cleansings, and occasionally tea tree oil, which I'm sure that had something to do with it not getting infected. It took about 7 months to fully heal, and now I can go into a pool or in the ocean without worrying about it getting infected, though I still clean it afterwards. I only used tea tree oil every now and then because it seemed to dry out the piercing and make my skin dry, rough and itchy. But if you want to get your belly button pierced, I definitely suggest that you should find a reputable studio, one who uses sterile tools, and you shouldn't even bother with those who don't bother to check ID. After getting it pierced, avoid any exercise like ab crunches, as they aggrevate the piercing, and take a multivitamin like Centrum. That helps in reducing the healing time. Also, don't let strange guys lift up your shirt and poke your belly button with dirty fingers, and if they do, make sure that you clean it when you get home! ;)
