I've been wanting my navel pierced for quite some time now. Probably about since I was 12, so 3 years ago. I've begged my mom and my dad and they both kept saying no. Well I guess a 12 year old with a navel piercing is a little odd. I would beg them for days straight. After a while I just kind of gave up asking until I was 14. I started it up again but I wasn't being as annoying with it. My mom would tell me, "Maybe for your 16th birthday." And I'm not allowed to have them for cheerleading competitions because of danger issues. So I dropped it again. We went to Florida last summer and they have Tattoo and Piercing shops down there like crazy. So it reminded me of it. I was 15 now at this time and I asked my mom if I could get it while we were down there. She told me to ask my dad which I knew he was going to say no because he absolutely despises those type of things. But I asked anyways, and as expected he said, "No, there's no point in it."

Location Hastings, Minnesota It's been 7 months since then, and now cheerleading season is over. I was talking to my mom last night asking her about it. We started looking online for places to go and such. We found one that pierces 15 year olds so we checked that one out. It seemed alright so we went with that.
I bugged my mom today about going to get it done and she finally gave in. She told me not to say anything to my dad or my brother. It was about 2:15 and we were on our way to A-1 Tattoo & Body Piercing. We got there around 2:45. This place was really small and a quite of few people were in there though. All were getting tattoo's though. The guy who pierced me walked up to the front asking if he could help us with anything and my mom told them I wanted to get my navel pierced. So he asked for our identification cards and asked us to sign some paper while he went back and set up for me. I only had to wait about 5 minutes. This guy looked pretty normal. More normal then I was expecting. He looked young... probably about 21-22. He had each eyebrow pierced, a nose stud, labret, and a few in his ears. I was expecting someone with just about every facial piercing you would imagine. He was also pretty cute. He told me to lay down on the table and he cleaned up around my belly button and then told me to stand up so he could mark it. He mentioned how he was a freak when it comes to lining piercings up because he wants them perfect. He told me to check it out and I thought it looked great. Then he told me to lay back down on the table. He placed the clamp on and tightened it. He asked me if it was too tight and I told him it wasn't. He was talking to me throughout the whole thing... probably trying to distract me. Then he shoved the needle through, put the ring in it and told me I was done and to check it out to tell him what I thought. I thought he did a nice job. My mom had come in as well to watch but after he got the clamp on she couldn't watch anymore. I thought she was a bit of a wimp.
After about a minute I started feeling light headed and stuff. I thought I was going to pass out but I don't know what it would have been from. It didn't hurt that much to cause me to pass out but then again, I should have eaten something right before it. He explained to me how to clean it and gave me these new q-tip things that he had just boughten that day and I was the first to use them. He told me to use Dial Anti-bacterial soap and that I could use Neosporin ointment to help heal it too. I went outside to get fresh air while my mom paid the $45 and then I was fine.
I hear all these stories on how the only part that hurts is getting the clamp put on. Personally, I didn't think the clamp hurt at all. Infact, I actually thought it felt pretty cool. The part that hurt was the actual needle. It felt like getting a tetnus shot if you've had one of those. It wasn't too bad though. I heard that if you have "tight skin" that it would hurt a bit more. And that's pretty much what I have. I have very little fat on my stomach therefore it's just going through the skin.
It's been 6 hours since I've gotten it and now it doesn't hurt at all. I can't even feel that I did anything. I'm really pleased with it and I'm really glad I was able to get it done. I'd recommend anyone to get a piercing of their choice without being scared. The people are really nice and they respect you real well.
