After getting the top of my navel pierced and my tongue pierced, both around a year ago, I was wondering what to get pierced next. It couldn't be too over the top (no nipple, genital, facial... not in my line of work anyway!), so I finally decided on getting the bottom of my navel pierced, I thought it would look awesome with the top being pierced already. So my mind was made up, and I knew what I wanted, I was GOING to get it done (I'm one of those people who decides on something and then does it, no matter what).

After consulting my mum, who finally agreed with me going through with this procedure (after much convincing!), I proceeded to call around the local tattoo shops in my area to see who could do this for me. Three calls and a bad temper later, I Finally found a female piercer(not that it really mattered!) in a small tattoo and piercing shop in my town. I had to book in and wait for the day she would be available, as she only worked on certain days.... (3 days later, of course!) way to run a business guys!!!!!!

The day finally arrived and With two of my best friends by my side, we made our way down to the tattoo and body piercing studio, where we waited until the body piercer arrived (half an hour late!), typical! (Though we did get to watch a big man get a tattoo while we were waiting, scary but fun all the same!!!)

When she finally did arrive with her little suitcase type case of needles and gear she asked what I would like pierced and I told her that I was here to get the bottom of my navel done, she informed me that it would cost only $35 including the ring (AU dollars!!! Awesome!! what a bargain!) much less then I had expected! She also informed me it would be quick, easy and painless (sure!!), the choice of rings was non existent though, plain silver Ball Closure Ring, so basic, so ugly... what's new though!

She took quite some time getting ready and she got the simple stainless steel Ball Closure Ring and sterilised it, and also got the needle ready. I told her where I wanted it and Then she asked me to lay down on the bed, where I got both my friends on either side, who were watching eagerly. She cleaned the area thoroughly with a swab and then She marked both sides of my belly button with a blue marker to show where it should be pierced. She then clamped it, and told me to relax. Quickly in went the needle, I flinched, though the pain wasn't too bad, she inserted the ring through the plastic tube, pulled it through, took the tube off and put the ball in the ring! All done! She cleaned the excess blood from around the area and told me I could have a look at it. I carefully stood up and walked over to the mirror, where I was very pleased with what I saw. It looked fabulous, she did a great job! I was very impressed by her service, and when we went to the counter I gave he r a $5 tip to show my appreciation, after all she was really nice and did a truly fantastic job!

Upon returning home I decided that the pain really was much worse then the top of the navel, though I did expect that! It also bled quite a lot, a lot more then the top did, but it wasn't too bad, the pain was bearable!

The beginning of my navel project is now healed, I was surprised, it only took around two weeks, and it looks fantastic!

Now a year later, I love my bottom navel piercing, mixing and matching the rings in the top and bottom is great fun, and they look awesome, the only problem is trying to fit two barbells in there!

I'm now considering getting my first tattoo done, and I'm looking for the right design for me, I'm pretty nervous, and I'm really sure it's going to be a hell of a lot more painful then my measly piercings! I think after I get the tat, I'm going to get the other two sides of my navel pierced, but not yet! I like my navel the way it looks now, and I'm unsure whether getting the other two sides pierced would be too over the top... we'll see how I feel in a few years from now I guess! I truly do believe though, that piercings are addictive!

I would highly recommend getting the bottom of your navel pierced, it's well worth the time, pain and effort! It was a great experience!
