Before this piercing, all I had ever had done was 2 lobe piercings in each ear. They were both only done with piercing guns and I had never been to a piercing studio before in my life. I never would have even dreamed I would've ended up in one.

During the summer before 8th grade, I was 12. We were looking at some body jewelry in Claire's when my mom spontaneously said, "We should get our belly buttons pierced." I thought, YAY! So, since we had to go off to vacation and it wouldn't be a good time to get it pierced because of the cleaning part of the healing process, so we waited until we got back and the 1st 2 days of school had passed. (Thursday and Friday... school is weird here...)
It was a nice Saturday and we looked up a nice piercing place called Beyond Taboo Tattoo and Body Piercing in Macon, just a 25-30 minutes away. Without much trouble finding the place we walked in and a nice lady asked us for some ID. I didn't have an ID, but my mom happened to have my birth certificate on her and her own ID. Since I was only 12, the lady warned us that I should wait because I was still growing. I wanted to do it anyway, so she called her boss to make sure that she could do it even though she only had my birth certificate and stuff. It was alright, so the pierced and tattooed up lady led me and my mother into a clean back room right around the corner from the front desk.
I sat down in a chair somewhat like a dentists as she was talking to my mom, and she cleaned the piercing place with some stuff. She marked me and asked me to take a look in the mirror. It looked fine to me, so I said I was ready. I lied down in the chair and closed my eyes. I never saw the needle, but my mom told me it was long, etc. At that time I did not know much about piercings so after I learned what they had shoved through my stomach I was pretty amazed.
I held my mom's hand because I'm kind of a chicken. She said she was going to pierce me and it barely hurt. If anyone reading this has ever got their ears pierced with a cheapo piercing gun, it hurts just as much as that. It only lasted about 3 seconds and she put the CBR in. I stood up and looked at it right away. I was quite proud of my new piercing.
She gave me some cleaning and care instructions and me and my mom were off to the store to buy some orange-colored antibacterial soap and bactine solution.
After, I was surprised I actually followed through with it. At first, I was afraid to move because I thought I would tear something. That doesn't happen. Don't ever feel scared to move after you're pierced.
I cleaned it and babied my new piercing... until I got lazy. It took a long while to heal and I fought with painful infection. Once the infection got so horrible my whole stomach was red. For the most part, when I did clean, I followed the instructions. I learned that you should wash the crusties off first, then clean with antibacterial soap and move the ring in and out to get the antibacterial soap to clean inside the piercing. It might sting a little on the first couple of times you do this, but not much. You get used to it after a while. Dry up, then put on some bactine. I started using bactine spray stuff, but I found the little tubes of bactine rub stuff works much better and heals your piercing much faster. I recommend this stuff to anyone who is having trouble healing a piercing. It doesn't sting, it is antibactieral, and reduces pain (or at least that's what it says on the box).
Infections suck, guys. Do what the piercer says and clean the thing. It won't kill you... I promise.
After my piercing was finally healed, I switched the jewelery in and out a lot and I still have fun shopping for new jewelery to show of my piercing. I like to try new styles and have fun. It is great to walk around in a bikini because I know everyone can see it. Remember to always get the right size of jewelery you were pierced with (I am 14g) and to get surgical steel, sterling silver, or gold jewelery. Other "cheap" types can cause itch, irritaion, and even infection (which really sucks... believe me).
I would recommend this piercing to anyone, especially people who have only had their ears done before. It is not that extreme, and they can be quite attractive when healed! I am looking forward to getting many more piercings in the future.
