Hello, I am Caroline! Ever since I was 26 years old, I wanted to get my belly button pierced. However, being a bassist for a band, made me think , would my bass rub against my piercing and irritate it? Other thoughts ran through my head, including the thought of it hurting, when getting pierced. When I had the courage to get my belly button pierced, I got pregnant and decided that was not a great time to get a piercing. After my daughter was born I waited for awhile and started asking friends that have their navels pierced , if it hurt and all that fun stuff. They told me, if I could handle getting a tattoo, then I can go through a piercing.

I debated on this subject for awhile and it was driving my husband nuts. He was telling me either to do it or just be quiet about it. Of course he thought it would look cute on me. For a few weeks I debated and debated and finally, I decided to do it. I had gotten the money for the piercing from selling some stuff at my family's garage sale.
My husband and I went to the mall first to look around and we stopped at a place that sold body jewelry. I found some cute ones. I especially liked the Playboy bunny and the blue lobster. I did not buy them, because I heard you had to buy the starter ring to get pierced. After messing around at the mall, I felt it was time to go to get my belly button pierced.
We went to the Tattoo Gallery, mainly because we got our tattoos there and they are very clean and sterile and the staff is very welcoming and friendly. When we went inside, I talked to the piercer, Denny and he told me to sign the consent form and pick out a barbell. I picked out a purple one, because I love the color purple. He then went to the back to get ready and make a copy of my I.D. I sat and waited with my husband, whom was making me feel nervous. I didn't have to wait long. Denny came out and told me he was ready for me.
I went in be myself, while my husband stayed with our daughter. He thought, if he went, I would be more nervous, than I already was.
Once inside the room, Denny explained what he was going to do and that made me feel better. I tucked my shirt under by bra, while he made measurements, cleaned my belly button and marked with a black marker, where he would pierce me. I started to get nervous, when he told me to lay down on the purple bed , as he got ready to pierce me.
Time to get pierced. Denny showed me the items were still in the packages and then put on some clean gloves. He had some on previously while he made the measurements and marks. He then, opened the packages one, containing the scissor looking clamps and clamped my navel. (which didn't hurt, like people have told me) I was told to take a deep breath and then let it out and that's when he pierced me.. and surprise, it did not hurt. Just a little pressure! I did not even know he already did it, til he said he was putting on the top ball of the jewelry. I looked in the mirror and saw the most awesome thing, my beautiful belly button piercing. Denny went through the aftercare instructions with me and gave me pamphlet and some sea salt.
He even reminded me to wait 2 months before I can change my barbell.
I went out to the lobby where my husband was waiting and paid for my piercing and thanked Denny and the rest of the staff for being so nice. Some teenage girls were there debating whether to get pierced or not and when they heard me tell my husband it didn't hurt they decided to do it. I am soo happy with my piercing and do not regret it at all!
I just had to show off my new piercing to everyone. To my surprise, my mother thought it was cool. My 4 year old son, asked my why I did it. Of course my husband loves it alot.. and wants me to get a Playboy Bunny belly ring. My other friend thought I couldn't go through with it, but was surprised when I told her I did it.
For the past 2 days I have been cleaning the piercing twice a day and making sure I do not get it caught on anything. If anyone is thinking about getting a belly button piercing, you should do it. It was worth forty-five dollars and plus you have a large selection of cool jewelry to choose from. If anyone has questions, feel free to email me.
