I have always been interested in tattoos and piercings since i was really young.
My absolutely first piercing was both ear-lobes, when I was three years old. But I had to take them out and re-pierce them a couple of years later.

I had for a very long time wanted a new piercing. First I was kind of clueless what I wanted to pierce, so I decided to check out some websites. Then I stumbled on here, BME, and saw this cute and simple piercing-Navel. I read some about it, how I was suppose to clean it, how much it costs, etc. I also read some experiences that other people had written, and I thought it seemed like a good piercing for me!

I showed my mom some pictures of it, but she was not so very happy about it. I already had my ears pierced, and she thought that was enough. But after a couple of weeks of nagging and begging about having it pierced, she finally said OK. I was so happy that she just suddenly had changed her mind!

So we rang to some piercing-studios and asked if there was a time available. The third one we called had a time that week.
I started to get nervous. What if it failed? I had read so much about infections, keloids and stuff, so I was actually very scared. But I knew if I would take care of it gently and wash it twice every day, there would be no problem.

And then the day came. My mom and I stepped in to the car and started to drive towards the studio. I was so nervous I almost could not breathe. But when I walked in to the studio, all my nervousness was gone. There was a waiting room inside, and we had to wait about 10 minutes before it was my turn to get pierced.
While waiting, I talked to a girl who was going to pierce her tongue for the third time. She also had her navel pierced and she told me it would not hurt if I'd just breath while the needle was going to clamp onto my navel.

So this guy came out and I got up. He was kind of tall and had a lot of facial piercings and big arm tattoos. He introduced himself as Lars, and asked for my ID papers, so I gave them to him and he told my mom to sign some papers. Then he led me to a room that was kind of small and had some tables and a large black "dentist-chair". It seemed very clean.
he told me to lay down in the chair, and I did so. I said that I wanted my navel pierced, so he showed me all the jewelry . I elected a simple banana-bar with two blue dots.
Then he showed me the needle, who laid in a sterilized plastic-bag, and the clamp. As I kept asking questions about the piercing, he got all the sterilized tools, and answered my questions.
I was ready to get pierced. (finally) First he clamped my navel, and that did not hurt at all.
But then, it was the needle."Breathe on 1,2,3 and i'll pierce on three" he said.
I almost did not felt the needle! He put in the jewelry, and there it was. It was perfect.
I got some papers about the healing-process, I thanked the guy who pierced me, gave him $50 and went out to my mom. She thought it was really cute.
When we got home, it started to ache some, but after maybe 4-5 hours the pain was gone.

Now, three months later it has healed and I am still very pleased with it. I've changed the jewelry to a titanium ring, with a small pearl on it. I'm very surprised it healed so fast, but I had one big problem during the healing-process. One morning I woke up with a very terrible stomach-ache. I felt like I was going to puke any second, so I ran up, and I, well, puked A LOT. After that I had the ache in my stomach for about 2-3 days, and I felt dizzy for one week afterwards. I do not know if that had anything to do with my piercing, cause I have read some about risks and stuff, but I have not read about that kind of sickness during navel piercings.

But, after all, I am very happy that I did it, and I almost had no problem at all with the healing (except the occurrence above) , so everyone who is considering a navel piercing, go for it! You wont regret it! There's just some things you really, really have to remember: Do not touch it with dirty fingers! (my friend did with hers, and she got a heavy infection)And the other thing: Do not wear too tight clothes while the piercing is healing! That was all I had to say about my navel experience!

Thank you!
