To start from the begining since I was young, about 11ish, I have always wanted my belly button pierced I loved the look of it and thought it was really interesting and was set on doing it, my mum on the other hand wasn't so keen on it and wouldn't let me though until just before my 16th birthday last year, I also managed to persuade her to pay for it :), which was a bonus.
At A Glance Author Joby When A year ago Location bracknell/basingstoke I was extatic when she finally said yes and I decided to go to the tattoo studio in Bracknell where my friends older sister and various friends had had piercings and tattoos done, my mum and about three or four friends came with me, my mum for the ID, although none was needed in the end.
We sat down inside the studio and looked at different tattoos that we wanted and winded my mum up about getting them done, my friends were also getting things pierced one got her tragus pierced and the other got a simple ear piercing.
They decided that I would go first as I had the most 'interesting' piercing which I really wasn't happy about, but I went for it being the brave person I am :) honest hehe.
I got in there and I was shaking which a mix of fear and excitment as one friend was very kind to me and decided to say it hurt like hell. But after a while the shaking turned to laughter as I am very ticklish, and the piercer was cleaning the area and marking it out, which just caused me to go into fits of giggles and when he came to piercing it he tried to get me to stop tensing my stomach and stop laughing. I did eventually and it went pretty smoothly and didn't hurt.
He explained how to clean it and generally look after it and I got up and walked out proud of my new piercing and started to feel faint but that went away pretty quickly.
For the first week I cleaned it but fell out of the habbit pretty quickly cleaning it every now and then and for the next few months it was very sore wen I lay on it, bent over or moved to much from side to side and kept oozing. It also had started to grow out to my dissapointment.
After 6 months of having it done when a friend went to get something pierced I asked why it was growing out and if I could get it redone, he explained that if I took it out now and left it to heal I should be able to get it redone. So that night I took it out and wore a plaster over it to start with to make sure nothing got in it, then left it to heal.
Then after 5 months of leaving it to heal, and it healing perfectly I got it repierced in a different place this time in Basingtoke and the piercer went through the same rountine explaining everything as it went along, and was about to pierce it and he hadnt put anything on to numb it and I asked if he could, but he explain to me it was just a 'placebo'. So I let him do it and it didn't hurt at all!!
I did the whole fainting thing all over again though, this time more like 15 mins though and I couldnt see anything :S. Which was a bit scary and didn't please my friend who was in the process of getting her tongue pierced and I was distracting the piercer while he tried to find me some water to drink, hehe.
But since I got it pierced the second time it hasnt hurt at all not even straight after i got it done and i am very pleased with it, I havn't cleaned it often enough really which i should have done, but if it looks a bit yucky i will clean it and so far *touch wood* it shows no signs of growing out :)
Soon I am planning on getting my belly button pierced again, either an industrial piercing just below my current one or a surface piercing just below my belly button. I am also in the process of streching one of the holes in my lobe and is all going well :) Although i don't know what I'll get done after that as I seem to be addicted to gettin pierced :S and have many earrings to show for it.
Two of my other friends have had belly button piercings one a 4/5cmish surface piercing just below it and the other just a standard one. The surface piercing rejected as it was pierced with too short a bar too shallowly, that has left a scar.
