I've never really been into piercing and my ears were as far as i'd go, but I always thought navel bars looked really nice. I'd wanted this piercing for ages before I'd finally got it pierced after losing about a stone in weight, looking back i don't think i was really meant to have it done!!

Studio A dodgy beauty salon, UK Location Bolton, UK My first attempt was one weekend, when I went with my friend into the town centre. I finally plucked up the courage and went to the local piercing studio, only to find it was closed. I was disappointed but not put off, and decided to try again 2 weeks later. I had the day off school for a teacher training day, so decided to go and get pierced. I was unbelievably excited, and had been out previously and bought savlon spray, savlon cream... everything! I was really dissapointed when I arrived at the piercing studio to again find it closed, this time for a whole week. I really wanted it pierced, and was determined to go home with a new hole so off we went to find another studio.
We passed a nearby tattoo and piercing studio, but I instantly dissed it (I suppose i made a quick judgement, kinda snobby really, but it just looked a bit dodgy!) I guess in reality it would have been better if I'd gone there to get pierced, they probably would have known what they were doing, but we carried on looking.
I was about to give up when I saw a massive sign in a local beauty studio advertising navel, ear and nose piercing. It looked clean, and I jumped at the chance. I got in, filled out a form and chose my jewellery. I should have realised how dodgy it was when I got to choose from about 3 different belly bars in a box under the counter. It cost £30 for a plain silver bar.... which was alot dearer than anywhere else.
My friend and i went upstairs and i lay down on the bed, while the woman piercing me cleaned my stomach. I was so nervous ad she clamped my stomach and numbed it. I felt a dull pain and I cringed as i felt the needle going through; it was more uncomfortable than pain, but it didn't feel good. I imagined a fish hook going through my stomach and tugging... yuk!!
"All done" i was told, and I looked at my stomach in excitement, but was greeted to what looked like about a pint of blood all over my belly! The piercer quickly cleaned it up and stuck a large plaster over it. I didn't feel faint headed and there was only a slight pain. I lay down for alittle while longer while my friend had her ears butchered. I paid her, and was on my way.
I went straight to the hairdressers, and then onto something I was doing for school before I could check out my new piercing. When i finally took off the plaster the bar was all covered in blood, and it took me quite a while to clean it with salt water. I was pleased with the results... how naive was I??!
On the following monday my friend asked to see it and i was really disappointed when her initial reaction was "Urgh, its wonky!" I cleaned my stomach religiously day and night with savlon spray and i'm pleased to say it healed quickly with no infection at all. It took me a few months before I realised how bad the piercing actually was, it was too far to the left of my navel, and far too shallow. when ever i sat down the bar turned round due to the side of it pressing against my stomach, and it was so shallow most of the bar stuck out at the top makng it really easy to catch!
I desperately didn't want to take out the bar, I'd already bought a new bar and didn't want to lose all that money. I finally decided to take it out about a week ago, just unde 6 months after I had it done.
I'm now left with a ugly mark, which i'm hoping will heal soon. I went and had my nose pierced yesterday, this time at a proper piercing studio, the one were i was originally going to go to. I just wish that I had been patient enough to wait for this studio.
Hopefully, the hole will heal in the coming months, and hopefully I'll be able to be repierced. For now, I'l just stick to looking after my new nose hole!! Maybe soon I'll be able to post another experience from a new navel hole.... but somehow I dont' think it will be any time soon! I might go and have a few more holes in my ears... that seems to be the safest bet with me!! lol
