Ever since I was 14 I had been deeply intrigued by any navel piercing I have seen. I was never really sure if I actually wanted one.

This still frightened me but yet I knew I wanted mine done. My parents would never let me go and get one though so I held it off and tried to tell myself that it is probably for the best.
When I was 17 years old almost turning 18 I started to really consider getting one. I started looking at all the barbells. One day I was walking through the mall and found this belly ring that I really liked. I turned to my boyfriend and said, "I want my belly pierced!" He looked at me and agreed that that would look cute.
I talked to my friend and asked her about her experience with it. She told me she had it for a while but then one day she ripped it out while she was practicing for flag guard. I must admit that that kind of worried me about it, but I still wanted it anyways.
I had to wait about a month before I was 18 and old enough to go down and get it. I warned my parents before hand so that it wouldn't be a complete shock to them when I came home with one.
Finally it was my birthday. My parents gave me tons of money because they had no other Idea what to get me. There was a little note wrapped around the money that said, "This is not for your BELLY PIERCING!" I agreed that I wouldn't use the money for that because I knew that that's what my boyfriend was getting me.
I waited a week after my birthday to get it done. The only reason why is I was planning on wearing this dress for Valentines Day and I didn't want it to agitate my belly ring. Everyday I grew more impatient then the last. Eventually I was at the point where I was just going to get it done anyways, but I waited until the day after.
On February 15th was the day I went. My parents begged me not to go, but I waited until my boyfriend got off work so he could go with me. I knew he was a little afraid of needles but he insisted he wanted to go so once he called I was ready to go.
I drove down to the tattoo shop and walked in. There was a guy standing there watching me and asked me what I wanted. I said, "I'm here to get my belly pierced." So he showed me the selection they had. There were so many to choose from and I was so nervous and excited I couldn't decide what I wanted so the guy that was going to pierce me ended up picking it out for me.
I went in the back room where there was a dentist-looking chair. I watched him wash and clean everything then he turned around and told me to stand up so he could mark where he was going to pierce. After that he instructed me to lie down. He told me it was going to last for about 15 seconds and I and I was going to feel a stinging sensation. I was not supposed to move or squeeze my boyfriend's hand once he started. I was actually surprised he came in because he is terrified of needles but he held my hand anyways.
The guy said, "I'm going to count to three." And then I could feel the needle going through. The deeper it went the more it hurt. I have to admit I did squeeze my boyfriend's hand a little bit. Suddenly I couldn't feel the needle going through anymore so I looked up at the guy that did it and he said, "All I have to do is screw the ball on and then you're done."
After he was done I let go of my boyfriends hand and looked over at him. He ran to the chair and almost passed out. The guy told me I could go look at it in the mirror. I looked for only a quick second, but I was so shaky from it all I couldn't concentrate on anything.
I looked over and the guy was opening up a candy jar full of pixy sticks. I smiled because I thought it was a treat for doing so well but instead of giving it to me he gave it to my boyfriend. He said, "Dude you don't look so well you better eat this, it will make me feel better." Then he told us he has seen people pass out from watching and then he walked out and handed me this antibacterial soap I was supposed to use and then gave me after care instructions. Then we paid them and left.
I started driving to a restaurant because it looked like my boyfriend had to eat more so we went in. The whole time we were sitting down I couldn't stop looking at it. I thought I was so pretty and they did a good job piercing it.
I was afraid to touch it so in the morning when I finally did I noticed I could feel the bar through my skin. It was kind of scared me out because I did not think about it. It also seemed like the day after it hurt more and each day it seemed to get a little sorer then the last and then it eventually stopped hurting.
I have taken care of it to the best of my ability but it gets red around the barbell every now and then and gets sore sometimes but I am really glad I had it done and wouldn't change it for the world.
