I have always wanted my bellybutton pierced. I thought it was the cutest piercing ever! Alas, my mom wouldn't hear of it. She said it would be sending too strong of a "sexual message" for someone who is only 14. I couldn't give up though. When my best friend Allie got hers done in November, I had to have it. I begged, I pleaded. I got down on my hands and knees and really begged! But, my parents still told me I could have it "when I was 18 and out of there care".

So that night, when my parents took me out to dinner, I asked them if I could have it done one last time. Their first reaction was "NO!" but with the information I shared with them on how it would be sterile and how I would pay for it, it progressed to a "well, maybe". By the end of dinner I had convinced them, though they said I had to wait a month to be sure I wanted it.
A month went by so quickly! I read a lot of the experiences on this site and they helped me to not be so nervous. I was still afraid of that needle, though! Needles and I aren't the best of friends.
So this morning my mom, my three best friends Jessica, Allie, Kathryn, and I, piled into out mini van and set of for me to be pierced. When we first got to the studio, it was nothing I had expected. It looked kind of grungy and small. There was a blond lady with lots of facial piercings helping one girl who was getting her nose pierced, which left this old balding guy to help me. I went up to him and clearly stated, "I want to get my bellybutton pierced", "Okay, I'll need to see some I.D.'s". My mother got her drivers license out and I got my military I.D. out. "Come back here", the fat guy said.
He took me to a back room and started asking me all kinds of silly questions like "Is that your REAL mother?" "What's her middle name?", "When's her birthday?". I was so nervous and confused I forgot my own mother's middle name! I must have looked so confused because this tall lanky guy came in and said "Knock it off, George". George left to go back to my mother and Tall and Lanky started talking to me. "So, is this your first piercing?" "Yeah", I replied, "You wouldn't believer how long it took to convince my mum!", "I believe it", he said. "Hey, come back out here!" George called.
After Mom and I signed papers, I paid George $35 and he got out a huge white tackle box with lots of beads in it. "Which one would ya like?" he asked. His scariness was suddenly gone after I had forked over the money. Jessica helped me pick out a neon green bead. "Follow me", George said. "Hey wait... Can I bring one of my friends back with me?" I asked. "Yeah you can bring 'em all", he said. My mom came and watched at the door. There was even a little kid playing video games that was watching! It all made me really nervous.
He tucked my shirt under my bra and told me to stand up so he could mark me. He asked me if that was good and I just agreed with him because I figured he knew what he was doing. I sat down in the chair and he put it back and told me to relax. "I'm going to clamp you now", he said. Now, some people have told me the clamps hurt really bad. They just feel like somebody pinching you lightly! Really, it was no big deal. Then, George kept asking me "Are you ready? Are you ready? Are you???" "Yes!!!" I said. But before I said it my mom said, "The worst part is over sweetie!" I was like "WHAT?! HE ALREADY DID IT?!?" George said, "Yep, your all done!" I looked down and there was my bellybutton ring!!!!!! I was so excited! It didn't hurt one bit! George was an extremely talented piercer he took about a whole 3 seconds to pierce me. It started to bleed a little, so he put pressure on it and it stopped. "Go look in the mirror!!" he said. I did and I was extremely happy with the results. I thanked him again and then left.
Its been about 10 hours since I had it done and it has been a little sore but on a scale of 1-10 the soreness gets a 2 and the piercing gets a 0!!!!!! It was an excellent experience and if any of you are thinking about it, I say DO IT! It's so cute and you will be happy with the results. If you live in Michigan near Clinton Township Go to Excalibur because they are very clean and quick!
