When I turned 15 I went with my best friend to get her bellybutton done. I saw it and instantly I wanted mine done too. I went home that night and asked my mom and the answer was a firm no. I kept working on her and eventually my mom said yes. So that weekend we went to the nearest piercing studio, called Sick Creations. I went in and told them I wanted to get my belly button done and they asked how old I was. I said I would turn 16 in 3 months. They told me they don't pierce anyone under the age of 16 even with parental permission. I was pissed because my friend went to the same place a hour before and got hers done. My friend is also a year younger than me. So after my mom went in and told off the guy there, she said I would have to wait. But she promised to take me as soon as I turned 16.

I walked in and told them I wanted to get my belly button pierced. They asked me old I was(!!) and after making sure I was 16 the piercer, Sid, took me to the jewelery case. After picking out a silver barbell with purple stones, she said she would go prepare the barbell and prepare the room. After about 15 minutes she asked me to go into a little room that looked like a dentist office. When we got in there she asked me to tuck my shirt into my bra and she marked my belly with a marker she got out of a sealed plastic cover. She showed me this as so to show that it was brand new and sterile. She showed my all the instruments in the sealed plastic bag-looking-things so I felt better because I knew it was all clean. Then she asked if I had eaten today. I said no and she got my a bag of M & M's and a cup of water. She said if I didn't eat I could pass out w hile she was piercing. After I was done she told me to lie down and relax. Up to this point I wasn't nervous. But as soon as I lay down I got really nervous. My mom was there and she held my hand. Sid told me to take a death breath and I felt a pinch. I asked if she was done but it was only the clamp. After the pinch I felt a cold , metal object on my belly and she said it was the needle. She had distracted me by asking what school I went to, what grade, etc. and then pierced without telling me. I was really glad she did that because if she had counted or anything I probably would have lost my nerve. I felt like I had laid there for an hour, when she told me I was done. I didn't feel anything!! I got up and she asked if I like it I told her I loved it and gave her a hug. She looked a little surprised but she gave me a hug back. She gave me the directions for aftercare and we went home.
I went to sleep that night on my stomach and it didn't hurt but when I woke up it hurt really bad and it was really swollen and bruised. There was also a couple drops of blood on the sheet. My belly stayed swollen for about 3 days but taking advil or tylenol really helped. I also used sea salt soaks twice a day. They helped a lot with the swelling and the pain.
Its been 6 months and my belly is fully healed(sea salts do wonders for healing and pain). I love showing it off when changing for gym and at the pool where I work. I suggest going to Sid because she was really nice and did a good job on my belly.
What they say is right, now I'm addicted to piercing, after my belly I had my ears pierced for a second time and had my cartilage done. Now I wanna get my belly done again. I wanna have 4 altogether and I also want an Industrail on both ears, plus the I'm getting my tragus pierced tomorrow(Valentine's present from my boyfriend-he's paying for mine and I'm paying for him to get his eyebrow pierced).
