I have wanted my belly button pierced for 2 years. I have been begging my mom to let me get it done for the past year. I have asked her everyday at least once. I have a cool mom and I figured that if she lets me do everything else when I bug her enough, she would let me get my belly button pierced. Well, this did not work that way. So finally I decided that I would find someone that pierces minors and get it done on my own. I started looking for piercers and the beginning of august. I went into Body Piercing Studios. I talked to people who knew piercers. I just could not find anyone to do it for me. I was ready to totally give up, after almost 6 months of searching. Finally, one of my good friends told me (In the beginning of January) that his friend is a piercer. So I kept annoying him to get me an appointment with him to get pierced. He finally did so, and we made an appointment to get me pierced on my friend's bed.
When the day came, I was not even nervous. Seems like I waited so long the thought of the pain never crossed my mind. I just wanted to finally have a belly ring. I had my own ring already, so the guy soaked it in alcohol for about 20 minutes and then boiled it in really hot water for a pretty long time. I was getting impatient. I have been waiting for so long and then sitting there waiting for the water to boil was horrible. It seemed like it was in there forever. After he took the barbell out of the pot, he was ready to pierce me. He told me to go lay on my friend's bed and close my eyes. I layed down, and still I did not feel nervous at all. The guy put on his gloves, marked the dot, cleaned the skin, and then opened the package with the needle. He had no clamps with him, I thought it would turn out better if he used some, but I figured he knew what he was doing. He used some kind of cork instead. This seemed weird to me.
He told my friend to sit next to me and hold my hand, and told me not to look at the needle. He did not tell me when he put the needle in and I did not feel him poke a hole in me, but I did feel the needle go through. It was not scary and not all that painful either. It is just like you feel it go through and there is this great pressure as if you need it to come out the other side. He said that my skin was like rubber. It took him quite a while to pierce me because he could not get the needle through, it kept bouncing out. I felt this pressure for a while, but I did not really care, I WAS FINALLY GETTING MY BELLY BUTTON PIERCED. He talked to me the entire time, trying to relax me. I had my eyes shut hard so I would not look at the needle.Who cares about the pain, it was bearable. Finally he put the barbell in, screwed the ball on and cleaned the new piercing and put Neosporin on it. I was ready to go. The piercing looks great. It tilts to the one side but it is awesome. I l ove it!
After I was pierced, he explained to me why it took so long. He said that my skin is really tight. He said he was used to piercing girls with some kind of gut.I thought that was funny. I kind of had to sit up while he was doing it because he could not grab enough skin. I was scared that he would say that he could not pierce me because I did not have enough skin there. A million things were going through my head. But he told me that everything was going to turn out great. Although at one point he went OH SHIT I F***** UP! I did not think that was too funny but I did not get scared.
I have had the piercing now for 5 hours and it is not red or sore. I forgot to buy some Neosporin, although I read somewhere that you are not supposed to use that. I am confused. But I plan on taking good care of it and so far it looks great! Hopefully it will not get infected! If everything goes fine, I will let this guy pierce me again. Looks like he knows what he is doing, although the circumstances were not very professional.
For anyone who wants their belly button pierced and is afraid that it will hurt. Believe me, it is not bad at all. I am really sensitive to pain and this was nothing to me but a big pinch. Go ahead get it done! You will love it! Next in line...my tongue! Wish me luck!
WARNING: although my piercing turned out fine, it does not mean that you should get a needle and a friend to do the job. Be careful. Go professional.
